Job Overview:
The UN Women Project and Financial Assistant position is a vital role within the Morocco Country Office (MCO), which focuses on promoting gender equality and women's empowerment. The assistant will support the planning, implementation, and monitoring of project activities, particularly those related to the project 'Resilience & Food Security: Integrated Solutions for Rural Women in Tata Facing the Impact of Locust and Water Crises.' This project aims to engage women in adopting water-saving techniques and disaster risk reduction initiatives, thereby fostering community ownership and sustainability. The assistant will also be responsible for providing administrative support in preparing project work plans, budgets, and proposals, as well as managing financial aspects of the projects, including budget monitoring and expenditure tracking. The role requires a proactive approach to ensure that project activities are effectively supported and that the organization meets its objectives in promoting gender-sensitive strategies and policies.
Duties and Responsibilities:
The duties and responsibilities of the UN Women Project and Financial Assistant include: supporting the planning, implementation, and monitoring of project activities; providing administrative support in the preparation of project work plans, budgets, and proposals; assisting in the financial management of projects through budget monitoring and expenditure tracking; preparing financial reports; creating projects in the Quantum system; preparing budget revisions and project awards; identifying unutilized funds; and supporting the operational and financial closure of projects. The assistant will also create invoices and requisitions in the Quantum system, register good receipts, and undertake logistical, administrative, and financial arrangements for meetings and events. Additionally, the assistant is expected to engage with communities and promote volunteerism as part of their role, contributing to the UN Volunteers programme and participating in activities that enhance understanding of volunteerism.
Required Qualifications:
The position requires a strong understanding of operations relevant to UN Women, including technical capabilities or knowledge of UN procedures and rules. Candidates should demonstrate discretion, political sensitivity, and the ability to liaise with various stakeholders. A high degree of autonomy, personal initiative, and resourcefulness are essential, along with the ability to manage information confidentially and accurately. Additional Notes:
This is a national UN Volunteer assignment based in Morocco. The UN Volunteer will be responsible for arranging their own housing and living essentials. The position offers a volunteer living allowance, access to learning and training resources, and comprehensive health insurance coverage. The contract duration and specific entitlements, such as relocation costs and exit lump sum payments, are outlined in the Conditions of Service. The living conditions in Morocco are generally favorable, with reasonable accommodation prices and accessible public transport.
