Job Overview:
The Knowledge Management Specialist P3 position at UNICEF Jamaica is focused on enhancing the organization's knowledge management practices. The role involves designing and coordinating knowledge management transitions, capturing and handing over knowledge both at team and individual levels, ensuring systems are accessible and of high quality, and building capacity for knowledge use. The specialist will work closely with various stakeholders to influence and improve policies and programs that affect children's access to quality services. The position is crucial in integrating the voices of children and adolescents into the organization's work, particularly in vulnerable situations, and aligns with UNICEF's five priority areas in Jamaica: child protection, climate action and resilience, education, social policy, and survival and thriving.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The duties and responsibilities of the Knowledge Management Specialist include:

• Designing and coordinating knowledge management transitions to ensure effective knowledge capture and dissemination.
• Facilitating knowledge handover processes for both teams and individuals to maintain continuity and enhance organizational learning.
• Ensuring that knowledge management systems are accessible, user-friendly, and meet quality assurance standards.
• Building the capacity of staff and stakeholders to utilize knowledge effectively in their work.
• Collaborating with partners, including government and non-governmental organizations, to influence policies and programs that impact children's rights and access to services.
• Engaging with children and adolescents to incorporate their perspectives into UNICEF's initiatives.
• Monitoring and evaluating the effectiveness of knowledge management practices and making recommendations for improvements.

Required Qualifications:
To qualify for this position, candidates must have at least five years of progressively responsible professional experience in knowledge management, organizational learning, or related fields. They should possess strong skills in documentation, knowledge exchange, and evidence curation. Additionally, candidates should demonstrate experience in supporting organizational change and transition processes, as well as familiarity with digital workplace tools and knowledge management platforms. Experience in development contexts, particularly in fragile or humanitarian settings, is highly desirable.

Educational Background:
Candidates must hold an advanced university degree (master’s degree or equivalent) in fields such as knowledge management, organizational learning, information management, business administration, library and information studies, social sciences, public policy, development studies, communications, or international relations. This educational background is essential for understanding the complexities of knowledge management within an international organization like UNICEF.

Experience:
The position requires a minimum of five years of relevant experience, with a focus on knowledge management and organizational learning. Candidates should have a proven track record of supporting organizational change and transition initiatives, as well as experience working with evidence and analytical outputs in a knowledge management context. Relevant experience at the country level, particularly in development or humanitarian settings, is also important.

Languages:
Fluency in English is mandatory for this position. Knowledge of another official UN language, such as Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian, or Spanish, is considered an asset. Additionally, familiarity with local languages may enhance communication and engagement with communities.
