Job Overview: The Health Personnel (Nurses) positions are critical roles within IOM, focusing on providing essential health services to migrants and affected populations in Venezuela. Nurses will be expected to deliver high-quality medical care, conduct health assessments, and participate in health education initiatives. The role requires a strong commitment to humanitarian principles and the ability to work in challenging environments. Nurses will collaborate with other healthcare professionals and stakeholders to ensure comprehensive health services are accessible to those in need. This position demands a proactive approach to health promotion and disease prevention, as well as the ability to respond effectively to health emergencies.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Provide nursing care to migrants and affected populations, including conducting health assessments and developing care plans.
Administer medications and treatments as prescribed by physicians.
Monitor and document patient progress and response to treatment.
Participate in health education and promotion activities to improve community health awareness.
Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure comprehensive health services are delivered.
Respond to health emergencies and provide first aid as necessary.
Maintain accurate and confidential patient records in compliance with IOM policies.
Participate in training and capacity-building activities for local health staff and volunteers. 1
Ensure adherence to infection prevention and control protocols in all health-related activities.
Required Qualifications:
Valid nursing license in Venezuela or equivalent.
Strong clinical skills and knowledge of nursing practices.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Commitment to humanitarian principles and the ability to work in diverse cultural settings.
Proficiency in using medical equipment and technology relevant to nursing practice.
Educational Background: A Bachelor’s degree in Nursing or a related field is required. Additional certifications in public health, emergency care, or specialized nursing fields are advantageous. Continuous professional development and training in relevant areas are encouraged to maintain up-to-date knowledge and skills.
Experience: A minimum of 2 years of professional nursing experience is required, preferably in a humanitarian or emergency response setting. Experience working with vulnerable populations, including migrants and refugees, is highly desirable. Familiarity with health systems and practices in Venezuela is an asset.
Languages: Fluency in Spanish is mandatory. Proficiency in English or other languages is considered an asset, as it may facilitate communication with international staff and stakeholders.
Additional Notes: This position is full-time and may require flexible working hours, including evenings and weekends, depending on the needs of the population served. The contract duration is subject to funding availability and organizational needs.
