The position of Individual Consultant - Residual Waste Processing Technology Specialist is crucial for the UNDP's efforts in managing waste effectively in Bangladesh. Duties and Responsibilities:
The duties and responsibilities of the Individual Consultant include but are not limited to: conducting a comprehensive assessment of existing residual waste processing technologies in Bangladesh; identifying and analyzing the strengths and weaknesses of current practices; developing a set of recommendations for improving waste processing systems; collaborating with local government and community stakeholders to ensure the recommendations are practical and culturally appropriate; preparing detailed reports and presentations to communicate findings and recommendations; providing training and capacity-building sessions for local authorities on best practices in waste management; and ensuring that all activities align with UNDP's strategic objectives and sustainability goals.
Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a strong background in environmental science, waste management, or a related field. A proven track record of working with waste processing technologies is essential. Additionally, candidates should demonstrate experience in project management, stakeholder engagement, and technical report writing. Strong analytical skills and the ability to work independently as well as part of a team are crucial. Familiarity with UNDP's operational procedures and policies will be considered an asset.
Educational Background:
A minimum of a Master's degree in Environmental Science, Waste Management, Engineering, or a related field is required. Additional certifications or training in waste processing technologies or project management will be advantageous.
Experience:
The position requires at least 5 years of relevant professional experience in waste management or environmental consulting. Experience working with international organizations, particularly in developing countries, is highly desirable. Candidates should have a demonstrated ability to manage complex projects and deliver results within tight deadlines.
Languages:
Fluency in English is mandatory, both written and spoken. Knowledge of Bengali or other local languages will be considered a plus, as it will facilitate better communication with local stakeholders and authorities.
