Job Overview:
The Humanitarian Mine Action Assistant (Paramedic) role is crucial for providing on-site medical support during humanitarian demining operations. The primary objective of this position is to ensure the safety and well-being of individuals involved in demining activities by delivering immediate medical assistance in the event of accidents. The paramedic will be responsible for administering first aid, stabilizing victims' conditions, and overseeing their medical evacuation when necessary. This role requires a proactive approach to assess local medical facilities and develop effective casualty evacuation plans prior to demining operations. The paramedic will also maintain updated contact information for healthcare facilities within the operational area and ensure that all medical kits are complete and compliant with DRC's standard operating procedures. Additionally, the paramedic will conduct regular training sessions for colleagues on basic life support and support formal training initiatives in collaboration with DRC Global Medic. This position demands a commitment to teamwork and the ability to support colleagues in various deployment-related tasks.

To qualify for this position, candidates must possess the following qualifications:
Educational Background:
Candidates must have a recognized medical qualification from an accredited educational institution. This includes a state-recognized diploma as a Paramedic/Feldsher or a Medical Doctor. The educational background should reflect a solid foundation in medical principles and practices, particularly in emergency care and trauma management, which are critical for the role of a paramedic in humanitarian settings.
Experience:
The position requires a minimum of 3 years of practical experience in the medical field, with a strong emphasis on emergency medical care. Candidates should have proven experience in providing medical assistance in high-pressure situations, such as accidents or emergencies. Experience working in an ambulance service or as a military medic is highly desirable, as is familiarity with trauma care and the treatment of injuries sustained in accidents. Previous experience delivering paramedic training and working with non-governmental organizations (NGOs) as a Paramedic will be considered advantageous.
Languages:
Fluency in the Ukrainian language is mandatory for this position, as effective communication with local populations and team members is essential. Proficiency in English is considered an advantage, as it may facilitate communication with international colleagues and enhance the paramedic's ability to participate in training and development opportunities.
Additional Notes:
The contract for this position is initially set for a duration of 3 months, with a probation period. There is a possibility of extension based on performance and available funding. The designated duty station for this role is Kharkiv, and the expected start date is September 202

- Supporting formal third-party training in collaboration with DRC Global Medic.
- Assisting colleagues with routine tasks related to deployment in the mobile team.
- Collaborating with other team members to ensure effective communication and coordination during operations.
Required Qualifications:
To qualify for this position, candidates must possess the following qualifications:

- The salary and conditions will be in accordance with the Danish Refugee Council’s Terms of Employment for employees on national contracts, starting from EUR 1465 gross per month, depending on experience and qualifications. Applicants are required to submit a cover letter and an updated CV in English, with a maximum length of four pages.
