Job Overview:
The Project Associate - Infrastructure will play a crucial role in supporting the implementation of infrastructure projects within the IOM framework. This position involves coordinating with various stakeholders, including government agencies, local communities, and other partners to ensure that infrastructure projects are executed efficiently and effectively. The associate will be responsible for monitoring project progress, ensuring compliance with IOM standards, and facilitating communication between different parties involved in the projects. Additionally, the role requires a proactive approach to problem-solving and the ability to adapt to changing circumstances in the field. The Project Associate will also contribute to the preparation of reports and documentation related to project activities, ensuring that all information is accurately captured and communicated to relevant stakeholders.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Assist in the planning and implementation of infrastructure projects, ensuring adherence to IOM policies and procedures.
  • Coordinate with local authorities, community leaders, and other stakeholders to facilitate project activities.
  • Monitor project progress and provide regular updates to the project manager, identifying any challenges and proposing solutions.
  • Prepare and maintain project documentation, including reports, meeting minutes, and correspondence.
  • Conduct site visits to assess project implementation and gather feedback from beneficiaries.
  • Support the organization of training sessions and workshops for stakeholders involved in the projects.
  • Ensure that all project activities are conducted in a manner that respects the rights and dignity of affected populations.
  • Collaborate with other IOM units and external partners to enhance project outcomes and share best practices.

Required Qualifications:
  • Strong organizational and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
  • Proficiency in project management tools and methodologies.
  • Knowledge of infrastructure development processes and standards.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Familiarity with the local context and challenges related to infrastructure in Bangladesh is an asset.

Educational Background:
A bachelor's degree in civil engineering, architecture, project management, or a related field is required. Additional certifications in project management or infrastructure development are advantageous.

Experience:
A minimum of 2 years of relevant experience in project implementation, particularly in infrastructure development or humanitarian projects. Experience working with international organizations or NGOs is preferred.

Languages:
Fluency in English is mandatory. Knowledge of Bengali or other local languages is an advantage, as it will facilitate communication with local stakeholders and communities.

Additional Notes:
This position is full-time and based in Cox's Bazar, Bangladesh. The contract duration is initially for one year, with the possibility of extension based on project needs and funding availability. The role may require occasional travel to project sites within the region.
