Job Overview:
The UN Chief of Unit Production is tasked with leading the planning, coordination, and execution of broadcast coverage for the UN Department of Global Communications from its Geneva hub. This role involves managing a team responsible for the daily operations of broadcasting meetings and press events at the Palais des Nations, ensuring technical operations are aligned with webcast services. The incumbent will drive the scheduling of video and multimedia coverage, ensuring that the team meets the demands of the global news cycle and the UN's communication priorities. The position requires a proactive approach to managing workflows, overseeing staff performance, and ensuring quality assurance in all broadcast and video production activities. Additionally, the Chief of Unit Production will represent the UN Information Service in various communication planning meetings and collaborate with other UN entities to fulfill their broadcast needs, thereby enhancing the visibility and impact of the UN's work.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Manage daily operations of the broadcast team, ensuring effective coverage of meetings and press events at the Palais des Nations.
• Oversee technical operations and ensure seamless integration with webcast services.
• Schedule and coordinate video and multimedia coverage in collaboration with the News Unit.
• Distribute workload among team members and monitor workflows for efficiency and quality.
• Handle substantive and administrative activities, including hardware and software procurement and budget oversight.
• Ensure timely production and distribution of video news edits, aligning with global news cycles.
• Represent the UN Information Service at communication planning meetings and collaborate with other UN departments on broadcast needs.
• Provide expert advice on broadcast and multimedia asset management to senior officers and public information staff.
• Build partnerships with stakeholders to secure support for broadcast initiatives.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess expert knowledge of multimedia production workflows, broadcasting tools, and technologies. They should demonstrate a strong commitment to professionalism, creativity, and technological awareness. The ability to manage performance effectively, delegate responsibilities, and provide constructive feedback is essential. Candidates should also exhibit a strong understanding of gender perspectives in the workplace and ensure equal participation of all genders in their team.

Educational Background:
An advanced university degree (Master's degree or equivalent) in communication, multimedia, broadcast engineering, or a related field is required. Alternatively, a first-level university degree in one of these areas combined with two additional years of qualifying experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced degree.

Experience:
A minimum of 7 years of progressively responsible experience in communication, particularly in live broadcasting, studio operations, and video production within an international context, is required. Candidates must have experience managing a multimedia team and producing video news edits for international broadcasters. Experience in managing livestreaming operations is desirable but not mandatory.

Languages:
English is required at UN Level III proficiency, while French is desirable at UN Level I proficiency. Candidates should demonstrate strong skills in reading, writing, listening, and speaking in English, with a basic understanding of French being advantageous.

This position is temporarily available for six months, with the possibility of extension. It is important to note that this temporary assignment does not guarantee future employment with the UN.
