Job Overview: The Field Project Assistant - Health will play a crucial role in supporting the implementation of health-related projects within the IOM framework. This position requires a proactive individual who can assist in the coordination of health programs, ensuring that they align with IOM's strategic objectives. The assistant will be responsible for collecting and analyzing health data, facilitating communication between stakeholders, and supporting the delivery of health services to vulnerable populations. The role demands a strong understanding of health issues in the context of migration, as well as the ability to work collaboratively with various partners, including government agencies, NGOs, and community organizations. The assistant will also be expected to contribute to the development of project proposals and reports, ensuring that all activities are documented and evaluated effectively.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Assist in the planning, implementation, and monitoring of health projects in accordance with IOM guidelines and standards.
Collect and analyze health data to inform project activities and decision-making.
Facilitate communication and coordination among project stakeholders, including government entities, NGOs, and community groups.
Support the delivery of health services to migrants and affected populations, ensuring that services are accessible and culturally appropriate.
Contribute to the development of project proposals, reports, and other documentation as required.
Participate in training and capacity-building activities for staff and partners involved in health projects.
Ensure compliance with IOM policies and procedures, particularly in relation to health and safety standards.
Assist in the identification of best practices and lessons learned to improve project implementation and outcomes.
Required Qualifications:
Strong understanding of health issues, particularly in the context of migration and displacement.
Excellent organizational and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
Proficiency in data collection and analysis, with experience in using relevant software and tools.
Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
Strong problem-solving skills and a proactive approach to challenges.
Familiarity with IOM's mission and values, as well as relevant health policies and frameworks.
Educational Background: A bachelor's degree in public health, social sciences, or a related field is required. Additional certifications or training in health project management or migration health would be an asset.
Experience: At least 2 years of relevant work experience in health project implementation, preferably in a humanitarian or development context. Experience working with migrants or vulnerable populations is highly desirable.
Languages: Fluency in Spanish is mandatory. Proficiency in English or other languages is considered an asset, particularly in the context of communication with international partners.
Additional Notes: This position may require travel within the country and possibly to other regions. The role is full-time, and candidates should be prepared to work in a dynamic and challenging environment. Compensation and benefits will be commensurate with experience and in accordance with IOM policies.
