Job Overview:
The Health Personnel Pharmacist position is critical within the IOM framework, focusing on providing pharmaceutical care and ensuring the safe and effective use of medications. The pharmacist will be responsible for managing the medication supply chain, including procurement, storage, and distribution of pharmaceuticals. Additionally, the role involves collaborating with healthcare teams to optimize medication therapy and ensure compliance with health regulations. The pharmacist will also be expected to participate in health assessments and contribute to the development of health programs that address the needs of migrants and local populations. This position requires a proactive approach to problem-solving and a commitment to improving health outcomes in the communities served by IOM.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Manage the procurement, storage, and distribution of pharmaceuticals and medical supplies in accordance with IOM policies and national regulations.
• Conduct regular inventory checks and ensure that all medications are stored properly and are within their expiration dates.
• Provide pharmaceutical care by reviewing medication orders, assessing patient needs, and ensuring the safe and effective use of medications.
• Collaborate with healthcare providers to develop and implement medication management plans tailored to individual patient needs.
• Educate patients and healthcare staff on medication use, potential side effects, and interactions.
• Participate in health assessments and contribute to the development of health programs aimed at improving health outcomes for migrants and local communities.
• Ensure compliance with all relevant health regulations and standards, including those set by the World Health Organization (WHO) and local health authorities.
• Maintain accurate records of medication usage and report any discrepancies or issues to the appropriate authorities.
• Stay updated on the latest developments in pharmacotherapy and participate in continuous professional development activities.

Required Qualifications:

• A valid pharmacist license to practice in Venezuela.
• Strong knowledge of pharmacology, therapeutics, and medication management.
• Familiarity with international health regulations and standards, particularly those related to migration health.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively in a multicultural environment.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
• Proficiency in using pharmacy management software and electronic health records.

Educational Background:
A degree in Pharmacy from a recognized institution is required. Additional certifications in clinical pharmacy or public health will be considered an asset. Continuous professional development in areas related to migration health and pharmaceutical care is encouraged.

Experience:
A minimum of 2 years of experience in a pharmacy setting, preferably in a humanitarian or international health context. Experience working with vulnerable populations, including migrants and refugees, is highly desirable. Familiarity with the health challenges faced by migrants and the ability to adapt pharmaceutical care to meet diverse needs is essential.

Languages:
Fluency in Spanish is mandatory. Proficiency in English is highly desirable, and knowledge of other languages spoken by migrant populations in Venezuela would be an asset.

Additional Notes:
This position is full-time and may require occasional travel within Venezuela. The contract duration is initially for 12 months, with the possibility of extension based on funding and performance.
