Job Overview:
The IT Operation Assistant will play a crucial role in supporting and reporting on all beneficiary management activities within the Gambella Field Office. The incumbent will provide technical support for the planning and implementation of beneficiary registrations and distributions through Digital Assistance Services (DAS). This position requires collaboration with various stakeholders to understand business requirements and ensure efficient program implementation. The role also involves capacity building for both the office and cooperating partners to enable effective beneficiary registrations and distributions. The IT Operation Assistant will assess equipment needs, provide technical support, analyze requirements, and participate in meetings to define needs and select appropriate partners for DAS operations. The incumbent will also be responsible for gathering data, producing reports, and keeping abreast of emerging IT technologies to design solutions that meet business needs.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to understand business requirements and plan related activities.
  • Support the efficient implementation of programs using the DAS platform and other solutions.
  • Build capacity within the office to implement DAS with minimal support from the country office.
  • Provide capacity building for cooperating partners to assist in beneficiary registrations and distributions.
  • Assess card and equipment requirements to ensure continuous operational support.
  • Provide technical support to DAS operations.
  • Analyze requirements and plan support for implementation across the country with stakeholders.
  • Participate in meetings with internal stakeholders and service providers to define needs and select partners for DAS operations.
  • Work with field offices to prepare and execute DAS implementation plans in coordination with stakeholders. 1
  • Gather data, analyze, and produce reports and dashboards to inform strategic decisions on programs. 1
  • Perform other related duties as required. 1
  • Stay updated on IT technologies to participate in designing IT solutions that meet business needs. 1
  • Coordinate the design and development of new IT solutions and gather requirements to meet WFP business needs. 1
  • Ensure compliance with organizational IT policies and procedures through quality assurance on IT solutions. 1
  • Guide and coach the IT solutions development team to enhance technical expertise and deliver integrated solutions.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a strong background in IT operations, with a focus on digital solutions and data management. The role requires analytical skills to assess service management results and develop enhancement recommendations. Experience in business process re-engineering and identifying service management improvements is also essential. Candidates should demonstrate the ability to work collaboratively with various stakeholders and possess strong communication skills to effectively convey technical information.

Educational Background:
The minimum educational requirement for this position is the completion of secondary school education. However, a university degree in Information Systems, Information Technology, Computer Science, Data Science, or other relevant fields is preferred. This educational background will provide the necessary foundation for understanding the technical aspects of the role and the ability to engage with complex IT solutions.

Experience:
Candidates should have at least five (5) years of relevant work experience in technology, digital solutions, and data management. This experience should include hands-on involvement in IT operations, as well as familiarity with beneficiary management systems and digital assistance services. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of successfully implementing IT solutions in a humanitarian context, demonstrating both technical expertise and the ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment.

Languages:
Fluency in English (level C) is mandatory for this position. Proficiency in additional languages may be considered an asset, particularly if they are relevant to the operational context of the WFP in Ethiopia. Strong communication skills in English are essential for effective collaboration with stakeholders and for producing reports and documentation.

Additional Notes:
This position is offered under a Service Contract at level 5 and is specifically advertised for Ethiopian Nationals. The contract duration is twelve (12) months, with the possibility of extension based on organizational needs and performance. The role is full-time and requires the incumbent to work in the Gambella Field Office.
