Job Overview:
The Electronics Technician position at CERN involves supporting the integration and commissioning of services and infrastructure for the CMS Tracker construction. The role is crucial for the preparation and validation of services, as well as the reception testing of components and detector assemblies. The technician will be responsible for setting up and operating test electronics for the commissioning of detector services and conducting functional testing of detector components and assemblies. This position requires a proactive approach to problem-solving and a commitment to maintaining high standards of quality and safety in all tasks.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The Electronics Technician will have a variety of duties and responsibilities, including: preparing and supporting the installation and commissioning of services and infrastructure for large detector assemblies, such as cables, racks, and test setups; setting up and operating test electronics and commissioning setups, including interlocks, sensor interfaces, and thermal test configurations; performing reception testing of detector substructures and components, including power distribution hardware delivered to CERN; validating integrated electrical services installed on detector assemblies and troubleshooting issues during construction; maintaining traceability by updating the production database with acceptance test reports and installation data; and collaborating with team members to ensure effective communication and problem resolution throughout the project.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a higher technical diploma or equivalent relevant experience in the field of Electronics or a related field. Additional relevant certificates will be considered an asset. The ideal candidate should demonstrate proficiency in the assembly, installation, and wiring of electronic components, as well as hands-on experience with electrical testing and measurement techniques using laboratory and test equipment. Familiarity with maintaining laboratory equipment and inventory, updating technical databases, and documenting testing procedures and results is also required.

Educational Background:
A higher technical diploma in Electronics or a related field is required for this position. Candidates with equivalent relevant experience may also be considered. Additional certifications in electronics or related disciplines will enhance a candidate's profile and are viewed favorably by the hiring team.

Experience:
The position requires candidates to have a solid level of experience in the field of electronics. This includes proficiency in the assembly, installation, and wiring of electronic components, as well as hands-on experience with electrical testing and measurement techniques. Candidates should have a proven track record of maintaining laboratory equipment and inventory, updating technical databases, and documenting testing procedures and results. Experience in a research or technical environment, particularly in a collaborative setting, is highly desirable.

Additional Notes:
The position is a limited duration contract for 4 years, with the possibility of extension up to 8 years and eligibility for an indefinite contract tenure. The job requires a commitment to working 40 hours per week, fully onsite, and may involve work in radiation areas, interventions in underground installations, and shift work, including nights, Sundays, and official holidays as required by the needs of the organization.
