Job Overview:
The Social Mobilization Team Leader Consultant will work under the overall supervision of the Adolescent Development Manager and the technical supervision of the U-Report Manager in Rome, Italy. The primary responsibility of this role is to promote the U-Report On The Move platform and related tools in reception centers, specifically targeting unaccompanied and separated children, young migrants, and refugees. The consultant will coordinate the activities of other social mobilizers, ensuring effective outreach and engagement with vulnerable youth populations. This position requires a strong understanding of the local context and the ability to adapt strategies to meet the needs of the target groups. The consultant will also be expected to deliver quality results against tight deadlines, showcasing strong communication and presentation skills to engage a varied audience, including children and adolescents.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Promote the U-Report On The Move platform and related tools in reception centers.
  • Coordinate activities of social mobilizers to ensure effective outreach to unaccompanied and separated children, young migrants, and refugees.
  • Develop and implement strategies for engaging vulnerable youth populations.
  • Conduct training and capacity-building sessions for social mobilizers.
  • Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of social mobilization activities.
  • Collaborate with local stakeholders and partners to enhance outreach efforts.
  • Prepare reports and documentation on social mobilization activities and outcomes.
  • Ensure adherence to UNICEF's values and principles in all interactions and activities.

Required Qualifications:
  • University Degree (Bachelor's or higher) in social or educational science, international affairs, or intercultural communication is desired.
  • A diploma or equivalent in cultural and linguistic mediation, social mobilization, or at least 2 years of relevant experience accompanied by professional certifications may substitute for the degree.
  • Relevant professional experience of at least 4 years in youth engagement and social mobilization is required.
  • Experience working with vulnerable youth groups, particularly those with a migration background or low socio-economic status, is essential.
  • Proven experience in team coordination and a solid understanding of the local context where activities take place.

Educational Background:
Candidates should possess a University Degree (Bachelor's or higher) in relevant fields such as social or educational science, international affairs, or intercultural communication. Alternatively, a diploma or equivalent in cultural and linguistic mediation, social mobilization, or relevant experience with professional certifications may be accepted in lieu of a degree.

Experience:
A minimum of 4 years of relevant professional experience in youth engagement and social mobilization is required. Candidates should have experience working with vulnerable youth populations, particularly those with migration backgrounds or from low socio-economic backgrounds. Experience in team coordination is also essential, along with a solid understanding of the local context where the activities will be conducted.

Languages:
Fluency in Italian and English is mandatory. Proficiency in French is considered a good to have skill, enhancing communication capabilities with diverse audiences.
