Job Overview:
The Section Head (Nuclear Power Engineering) is a managerial position within the IAEA's Nuclear Power Division, responsible for overseeing the development and implementation of the Section's activities related to nuclear power engineering. This role involves planning, initiating, and supervising the IAEA's program activities that support Member States in the construction and operation of nuclear power plants. The Section Head will coordinate technical support provided to Member States, advise the Director on scientific and technical issues, and facilitate cooperation with other organizations and divisions within the IAEA. The position requires a strong leadership presence, as the Section Head will manage a team and ensure that the Section meets the needs of Member States while maintaining high standards of technical excellence.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The Section Head will be responsible for a wide range of duties, including: planning, managing, and coordinating the Section's activities in alignment with Member States' needs; providing technical review services and ensuring compliance with IAEA standards; supporting the operation of nuclear facilities through excellence in plant life management, advanced technology applications, and maintenance optimization; assisting new countries in developing nuclear power programs by providing guidance on infrastructure and project management; coordinating technical cooperation projects and providing specialized technical input; organizing scientific meetings and contributing to scientific publications; promoting information exchange on nuclear power engineering; representing the IAEA at national and international meetings; and liaising with other divisions and international organizations on relevant topics.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a Master's Degree in nuclear engineering or a related technical discipline. A Bachelor's Degree in the same fields may be considered if accompanied by two additional years of relevant experience. A minimum of 10 years of professional experience in nuclear power engineering is required, with over 5 years of international experience being desirable. Candidates should demonstrate experience in project management, including design, monitoring, and implementation, as well as in managing human and financial resources. Knowledge of safety practices and standards in nuclear engineering is essential, and experience working in international nuclear organizations is preferred.

Educational Background:
The educational background required for this position includes an advanced university degree (Master's) in nuclear engineering or a related technical discipline. Alternatively, a Bachelor's degree in the same fields, combined with two years of additional relevant experience, may be accepted in lieu of an advanced degree. This educational foundation is critical for understanding the complexities of nuclear power engineering and the associated technologies.

Experience:
The position requires a minimum of 10 years of relevant professional experience in nuclear power engineering activities. This experience should include significant international exposure, with more than 5 years of experience in an international context being highly desirable. Candidates should have a proven track record in managing projects and teams, as well as experience in the design, monitoring, and implementation of nuclear engineering programs.

Languages:
Excellent oral and written command of English is mandatory for this position. Knowledge of other official IAEA languages, such as Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian, and Spanish, is considered an asset and may enhance a candidate's application.

The IAEA offers an attractive remuneration package, including a tax-free annual net base salary starting at US $103,165, along with a variable post adjustment currently amounting to US $53,64
