Job Overview:
The GBV Team Leader position is critical to the Danish Refugee Council's (DRC) comprehensive Gender-Based Violence (GBV) program across Sudan. This program primarily focuses on the prevention, risk mitigation, and response to GBV, delivering specialized GBV Case Management (GBV CM) services to support survivors in accessing safe, confidential, and survivor-centered care. The role involves integrating targeted psychosocial-support" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">Psychosocial Support (PSS) interventions to address the emotional and psychological needs of GBV survivors and affected populations. The GBV Team Leader will ensure the high-quality delivery of integrated GBV and PSS services, providing technical supervision for GBV prevention and response programming. This position requires strong coordination, leadership, and strategic guidance to effectively deliver survivor-centered interventions for vulnerable populations at risk.
Duties and Responsibilities:
The key responsibilities of the GBV Team Leader include enforcing a strong supervision role in GBV case management and the delivery of PSS activities, conducting regular case file audits, and survivor-centered capacity assessments. The leader will carry out periodic Mental Health and Psychosocial Support (MHPSS) capacity assessments and support the development of capacity-building plans for GBV and PSS staff. They will oversee data collection, ensure proper information management in line with GBV case management sensitive data protection protocols, and manage the Women and Girls Safe Spaces (WGSS) along with community volunteers. The role also involves conducting GBV risk assessments, ensuring the foundations of GBV case management services are in place, and managing cash assistance to GBV survivors. Under the supervision of the Protection Project Manager, the GBV Team Leader will line-manage Protection Officers and ensure high-quality case management services for GBV survivors. They will lead field assessments, safety audits, and coordination with partners, ensuring compliance with donor and DRC regulations. Additionally, the leader will provide technical support and guidance to the GBV team, monitor staff performance, and contribute to GBV proposals with field-based inputs.
Required Qualifications:
The position requires proven experience of at least three years in GBV case management, along with demonstrated experience in team supervision and leadership. A strong understanding and application of the survivor-centered approach is essential, as well as experience handling high-risk cases. Familiarity with displacement contexts, such as internally displaced persons (IDPs), returnees, and refugees, is considered an advantage. Candidates must exhibit a strong commitment to confidentiality and ethical standards, possess excellent interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills, and be able to work independently and under pressure. Proficiency in computer applications such as MS Word and Excel is also required, along with fluency in both English and Arabic.
Educational Background:
Candidates must hold a university degree in Gender Studies, Psychology, Social Sciences, law" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">International Law, Humanitarian Affairs, or a related field. This educational background is crucial for understanding the complexities of GBV and the necessary interventions to support survivors effectively.
Experience:
The position requires a minimum of three years of relevant experience in GBV case management, with a strong emphasis on team leadership and supervision. Candidates should have a proven track record of working in challenging environments and managing high-risk cases, demonstrating their ability to handle sensitive situations with care and professionalism.
Languages:

- The duty station for this role is Nertiti, and the start date is as soon as possible. The closing date for applications is July 30, 202
- The salary and conditions will be in accordance with the Danish Refugee Council’s Terms of Employment for national employees.
