Job Overview: The IT Consultant will play a crucial role in the efficient mapping of the ASYCUDA new platform to meet regional requirements. This position is home-based, allowing for flexibility while contributing to the UNCTAD's mission. The consultant will be responsible for maintaining, upgrading, enhancing, and supporting assigned ASYCUDA system components, ensuring that the software meets the needs of various stakeholders. The role requires a proactive approach to support the deployment, configuration, and release management of ASYCUDA software components, as well as creating additional features for the ASYREC environment. The consultant will also work on back-end extensions of ASYCUDA modules, focusing on data exchange and interoperability, which are critical for the seamless operation of the system. Additionally, the consultant will assist the ASYCUDA team in testing new modules, ensuring that they function correctly and meet the required specifications. This position is expected to last from August 15, 2026, to December 15, 2026, and is integral to the ongoing development and enhancement of the ASYCUDA platform.
Duties and Responsibilities: The consultant will undertake the following duties: - Maintain, upgrade, enhance, and support assigned ASYCUDA system components to ensure optimal performance and reliability. - Support the deployment, configuration, and release management of ASYCUDA software components, ensuring that updates and new features are implemented smoothly. - Create additional features for the ASYREC environment, enhancing its functionality and user experience. - Work on back-end extensions of ASYCUDA modules, focusing on improving system capabilities and integration with other systems. - Work on data exchange and interoperability, facilitating seamless communication between different software components and systems. - Assist the ASYCUDA team in testing new modules, providing feedback and suggestions for improvements based on testing outcomes. - Perform other technical tasks as appropriate, contributing to the overall success of the ASYCUDA project and its objectives.
Required Qualifications: A first university degree, such as a Bachelor’s degree in computer science, IT technology, engineering, mathematics, or a similar area is required. This educational background provides the foundational knowledge necessary for the technical aspects of the role. Additionally, at least 2 years of work experience in the ICT sector, specifically dealing directly with IT programming, is required. This experience is essential for understanding the complexities of software development and system maintenance. Work experience in the ICT unit of a governmental agency or international organization would be an advantage, as it demonstrates familiarity with the unique challenges and requirements of working in such environments.
