Interns will work full-time, typically five days a week, under the supervision of a staff member in the assigned division or office. The internship is unpaid and has a minimum duration of two months, extendable up to six months. Interns will have the opportunity to engage in various tasks that contribute to the Centre's mission, including assisting in the drafting and preparation of official documents, attending and summarizing conferences and meetings, supporting the organization of events, conducting research, and providing analysis on relevant issues. Duties and Responsibilities: Interns will be responsible for a variety of tasks, including but not limited to: assisting in drafting and preparing official documents; attending and summarizing conferences and meetings, including Expert Group meetings and workshops; supporting the organization of meetings and conferences; assisting in data collection related to ICT trends and policies; conducting research and providing analysis on relevant issues; drafting background documents, reports, issue briefs, talking points, articles, and presentations; monitoring regional and global news sources for articles and stories relevant to ICT for development; supporting the implementation of projects; maintaining databases; and performing additional duties as required by the supervising staff member.
Required Qualifications: Applicants must meet one of the following criteria: (a) be enrolled in or have completed a graduate school program (second university degree or equivalent, or higher); or (b) be enrolled in or have completed the final academic year of a first university degree program (minimum bachelor’s degree or equivalent). While no professional work experience is required for participation in the internship program, a keen interest in project implementation and capacity building is considered an advantage. Candidates should possess skills and knowledge that would benefit the United Nations during their internship.
Educational Background: Candidates must have completed or be currently enrolled in a graduate program or the final year of an undergraduate program. This educational background should ideally be in a field related to information technology, social sciences, international relations, or a similar discipline that aligns with the mission of the United Nations and the specific work of APCICT/ESCAP.
Experience: No prior professional work experience is required to apply for this internship. However, candidates should demonstrate a strong interest in the field of ICT for development and capacity building. Languages: Fluency in spoken and written English is required for the internship.
