  • The project has a total funding of USD 18.7 million, co-financed by various entities including the Government of Armenia, the Austrian Development Agency, and WWF Armenia. The FAO Representation in Armenia and the Environmental Project Implementation Unit under the Ministry of Environment of Armenia are the executing entities. The mission of the project is to support Armenia's transition to a low-emission and sustainable development pathway through strategic interventions aimed at reducing forest degradation and enhancing forest cover.

Job Overview:
The Heating and Energy Efficiency Engineer will play a crucial role in the technical implementation of the energy efficiency component of the Forest Resilience project. This position involves collaboration with local authorities, private sector producers, and project beneficiaries to ensure that the energy efficiency initiatives are effectively executed. The engineer will be responsible for conducting comparative analyses of woodstove technologies, ensuring compliance with international energy-efficiency and safety standards, and providing technical support throughout the project lifecycle. The role requires a proactive approach to problem-solving and the ability to communicate effectively with various stakeholders to achieve project goals.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The incumbent will carry out a variety of tasks including identifying wood stove requirements for target households, reviewing vocational school mapping for training gaps, analyzing national policy documents related to energy strategies, and conducting comparative analyses of existing woodstoves. Responsibilities also include documenting findings in presentations and project briefs, preparing tender documentation for woodstoves, facilitating approval processes, and overseeing the delivery of woodstoves. The engineer will develop guidance materials on safety measures, organize training activities for producers, and assist in the installation of woodstoves. Additionally, the engineer will support international experts and contribute to the design of training materials as needed.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess an advanced university degree in Mechanical Engineering, Energy Engineering, Thermal Engineering, or a closely related field. A minimum of one year of professional experience in areas such as heating assessments, energy efficiency, and household heating demand is required. Candidates should also have a working knowledge of English and Armenian, and must be nationals of Armenia or residents with a valid work permit. Strong organizational skills, good interpersonal communication abilities, and a willingness to undertake field visits are essential for this role.

Educational Background:
The position requires an advanced university degree in a relevant engineering discipline, specifically Mechanical Engineering, Energy Engineering, or Thermal Engineering. This educational background is critical for understanding the technical aspects of heating and energy efficiency, as well as for engaging with the various stakeholders involved in the project.

Experience:
