Job Overview:
The Driver position at UNHCR involves not only driving official vehicles but also ensuring the maintenance and upkeep of these vehicles according to the organization's technical guidance and specifications. This position is crucial for facilitating the transportation of authorized personnel and ensuring the smooth operation of UNHCR's activities in the field.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The primary duties of the Driver include: driving UNHCR vehicles for the transport of authorized passengers, delivering and collecting documents and other items, meeting official personnel at airports or other locations, and facilitating immigration and customs formalities as required. The driver is responsible for performing day-to-day maintenance of the assigned vehicles, which includes checking oil, water, battery, brakes, tires, and ensuring that the vehicles are roadworthy and maintained according to established security standards. The driver must also perform minor repairs, arrange for other repairs when necessary, and keep the vehicle clean. In case of an accident, the driver is required to follow the necessary procedures and ensure that all documentation for passengers, items, or cargo in the vehicle is valid. Additionally, the driver is expected to log official trips, daily mileage, gas consumption, and other relevant details, while strictly adhering to instructions and security guidance provided by the supervisor and security focal point. The driver may also be called upon to support the identification and management of risks and to seek opportunities impacting objectives in their area of responsibility.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a valid driving license and have knowledge of driving rules and regulations. Essential functional skills include basic vehicle mechanical skills and an understanding of driving regulations. The position requires a minimum of 2 years of relevant experience, with completion of primary education or a high school diploma being the minimum educational requirement. Candidates should demonstrate a commitment to maintaining a safe and respectful working environment, free from harassment and discrimination.

Educational Background:
The educational background required for this position includes at least completion of primary education or a high school diploma. While specific field(s) of education are not applicable, candidates must possess a valid driving license as a prerequisite for the role.

Experience:
The position requires a minimum of 2 years of relevant experience in driving and vehicle maintenance. Candidates should have a solid understanding of driving rules and regulations, as well as experience in performing minor vehicle repairs and maintenance tasks.

Languages:
For this position, knowledge of English and the UN working language of the duty station is mandatory. Additionally, proficiency in the local language is desirable.
