Job Overview:
The Senior security" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">Security Assistant plays a crucial role in facilitating safety and security operations within UNOPS. This position is designed to ensure a secure environment through proactive support, timely information exchange, and adherence to established security standards. The incumbent will be responsible for managing various administrative and specialized support services that contribute to the effective management of safety and security operations. This includes promoting a client-oriented approach in line with UNOPS policies and the United Nations Security Management System (UNSMS) standards. The role is essential in ensuring that security-related issues are addressed promptly, thereby maintaining a safe operating environment for all personnel.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The Senior Security Assistant will be tasked with a variety of duties, including but not limited to: gathering, verifying, and updating security information to support the analysis of security situations; maintaining accurate personnel lists and information related to UNOPS offices and project sites; disseminating relevant security updates; documenting and reporting security incidents; representing UNOPS at Security Cell meetings; providing administrative support for security training; conducting basic security briefings for new personnel; administering security clearance processes; and coordinating with the United Nations Department of Safety and Security (UNDSS) in the absence of senior security personnel. Additionally, the role involves general administrative and logistical support, organizing meetings, preparing documents and reports, facilitating emergency communications, and maintaining secure files and records. The Senior Security Assistant will also support knowledge-building initiatives and participate in training sessions on security topics.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess either a secondary school diploma with five years of relevant experience or a bachelor’s degree in any discipline with at least one year of relevant experience. Relevant experience includes work in security operations, incident reporting, security administration support, and security communications. Proficiency in collaboration and productivity tools such as MS Office and G-Suite is also required. Experience in multicultural environments or UN system organizations, particularly in developing countries, is desired, as is experience in development or humanitarian contexts.

Educational Background:
The educational requirements for this position include a secondary school diploma or equivalent, with a preference for candidates holding a bachelor’s degree in any discipline. The educational background should align with the responsibilities of the role, emphasizing security operations and administrative support.

Experience:
The position requires relevant experience in security operations, including incident reporting and security administration support. Candidates should have experience in using collaboration and productivity tools, as well as familiarity with web-based management systems. Experience in multicultural environments or within the UN system is highly desirable, particularly in contexts related to development or humanitarian efforts.

Languages:
Fluency in English and Arabic is mandatory for this position. Candidates must demonstrate proficiency in both languages to effectively communicate and perform their duties in a diverse and multicultural environment.

This position is classified as entry-level with an ICS level of 05 and is offered on a contract basis for a duration of 12 months. The contract type is ICA - LICA - Support - Regular.
