Job Overview: The position involves establishing a roster of highly qualified Afghan photographers and videographers to support UNICEF Afghanistan in producing high-quality multimedia content for advocacy and donor visibility. The selected consultants will engage in field assignments at short notice, capturing compelling visual content and delivering outputs within tight deadlines. The overall objective is to facilitate and expedite the hiring process for photographers, videographers, and editors through a Long-Term Agreement (LTA). The consultants will be responsible for providing high-quality photo and video coverage of UNICEF programs, activities, and events, ensuring that all necessary permissions and ethical standards are adhered to during the assignments. Duties and Responsibilities: The consultant will be responsible for providing high-quality photography and videography services, including:
Delivering high-quality photo coverage of UNICEF programs, activities, and events, ensuring all assignments are completed with full captions and consent forms.
Producing between 40-50 high-quality, edited photographs per day.
Gathering video content and providing post-production services, including editing, sound mixing, and color correction, to produce video packages in line with UNICEF's branding and technical standards.
Ensuring all required permissions, access arrangements, and clearances are in place for themselves and any personnel engaged for the assignment.
Submitting all deliverables in the agreed format, including edited photographs, compiled video footage, captions, metadata, shot-lists, transcripts, translations, and consent forms.
Ensuring that all materials produced are the property of UNICEF and that no personal branding is placed on the content without authorization.
Completing reasonable revisions or corrections requested by UNICEF within the agreed timeframe. The consultant will work on a standby basis, with the number of working days determined by UNICEF's needs, and assignments will be discussed on a case-by-case basis.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess a minimum of a bachelor’s degree in social sciences, Arts, Media, Communication, Literature, Marketing, Journalism, or Advertising. A diploma in a relevant field with substantial experience may be considered in lieu of a degree. Additionally, candidates should have a minimum of 7 years of relevant professional experience, with an extensive background in video production, journalism for TV, radio, print, news writing, film, breaking news, broadcasting, and documentaries. Fluency in both oral and written English is required, along with fluency in local languages.
Educational Background: The educational background required for this position includes a minimum of a bachelor’s degree in relevant fields such as social sciences, Arts, Media, Communication, Literature, Marketing, Journalism, or Advertising. Candidates with a diploma in a relevant field may be considered if they have significant experience in the industry.
Experience: The position requires a minimum of 7 years of relevant professional experience, particularly in video production, journalism, and multimedia content creation. Candidates should have a strong portfolio demonstrating their expertise in photography and videography, as well as experience in working under tight deadlines and producing high-quality content.
Languages: Fluency in oral and written English is mandatory for this position. Additionally, fluency in local languages is required to effectively communicate and engage with the communities served by UNICEF.
Additional Notes: This consultancy position operates under a Long-Term Agreement (LTA) framework, meaning that selected consultants will be placed on a roster and contacted as needed for assignments. The duration of each assignment will be discussed and agreed upon on a case-by-case basis. The consultants are expected to provide all necessary equipment and software for their assignments, and compensation will be based on an all-inclusive daily rate that covers all expenses except travel, accommodation, and subsistence.
