Job Overview: The Information Management (IM) Specialist will play a crucial role in supporting DRC Nigeria’s programs by developing and managing information management systems. This position is essential for ensuring high-quality data collection, storage, analysis, and reporting. The IM Specialist will collaborate closely with the Monitoring, Evaluation, Accountability, and Learning (MEAL) team, as well as technical and implementation teams, to ensure that information management systems are efficient and aligned with DRC’s operational goals. The role will focus on data management across various programs, ensuring that all information management activities contribute to program learning, accountability, and performance improvement. The IM Specialist will be responsible for making data accessible and accurate, which will inform decision-making and strategy development within the organization.
Duties and Responsibilities: The IM Specialist will lead the design, development, and implementation of information management systems tailored to meet DRC’s data collection and analysis needs across all projects and sectors. Responsibilities include maintaining and regularly updating DRC’s information systems, ensuring data accuracy, accessibility, and security" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">security. The IM Specialist will standardize information management processes across projects, develop tools and guidelines for data collection, and provide ongoing technical support to program teams. Additionally, the role involves facilitating the collection and management of program data, designing robust data analysis frameworks, and developing data visualizations and reporting tools. The IM Specialist will also train staff on information management tools, ensure data protection and confidentiality, and collaborate with external partners to align data sharing and reporting with sector standards. Furthermore, the IM Specialist will support the MEAL team in documenting lessons learned and best practices from program data, ensuring these insights inform future program design and implementation.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess a minimum of 5 years’ experience in information management, database design, or administration, particularly within development projects implemented by national or international NGOs or UN agencies. Strong knowledge and experience in data analysis software such as Excel, SQL, R, Access, or PowerBI are essential. Familiarity with data management systems, including database design and administration, is required. Experience with GIS mapping and spatial analysis tools is advantageous. Candidates should have a solid understanding of monitoring and evaluation processes and data collection platforms like ActivityInfo, Kobo, ODK, SurveyCTO, and CommCare. Demonstrated experience in training and capacity-building on information management systems is necessary, along with strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, and organizational skills.
Educational Background: A university degree in computer science, programming, information management, information technologies, or a related field is required. A master's degree is preferred, and a certificate in programming languages is desirable.
Experience: The position requires a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in information management, database design, or administration, particularly in the context of development projects implemented by national or international NGOs or UN agencies. Candidates should have a proven track record of working with data analysis software and managing information systems effectively.
Languages: Fluency in written and spoken English is mandatory. Knowledge of local languages such as Hausa or Kanuri will be considered an asset, enhancing communication with local communities and stakeholders.
Additional Notes: The contract length for this position is 1 year, with the possibility of extension depending on funding availability. The workplace is located in Abuja, Nigeria, and the start date will be determined upon identifying the right candidate. Salary and conditions will adhere to the DRC National salary structure, and this is a national position subject to local Nigerian terms and conditions.
