Job Overview: The position of Técnico(a) de Servicios Generales at CIMMYT involves working within the Maintenance Unit at the organization's headquarters located in Texcoco, State of Mexico, which is approximately 45 minutes from Mexico City. The selected candidate will be responsible for performing a variety of maintenance tasks that include preventive and corrective maintenance work such as painting, welding, door repairs, aluminum work, sanding, drywall repairs, false ceilings, and general maintenance. The role also encompasses general masonry work, tiling, waterproofing, and the movement, repair, and assembly of office and household furniture. Additionally, the technician will assist in fueling maintenance vehicles, perform carpentry work for the construction, maintenance, and repair of building structures, and ensure that tools and equipment are maintained in optimal working condition. The candidate will be expected to keep records of work orders and logs, and carry out any additional support functions assigned by their immediate supervisor.
Duties and Responsibilities: The duties and responsibilities for the Técnico(a) de Servicios Generales position include:
Conducting preventive and corrective maintenance tasks including painting, welding, and repairs of doors and aluminum structures.
Performing general maintenance work such as drywall repairs, false ceilings, and general upkeep of facilities.
Engaging in masonry work, tiling, and waterproofing tasks as required.
Assisting in the movement, repair, and assembly of office and household furniture.
Supporting the refueling of maintenance vehicles, including trucks and motorcycles.
Carrying out carpentry work for the construction, maintenance, and repair of building structures.
Maintaining tools and equipment in optimal working condition and reporting any malfunctions to the immediate supervisor.
Keeping accurate records of work orders and maintenance logs.
Performing additional support functions as assigned by the supervisor.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must meet the following requirements:
Preferably possess a technical degree in maintenance.
A minimum of secondary education is required.
At least four years of experience in a similar position or performing similar activities.
Preferably have experience in general masonry work.
Must comply with established safety standards.
Availability to work in rotating shifts, including weekends and holidays, as directed by the immediate supervisor.
Demonstrated sense of urgency and commitment to responsibilities and deadlines.
The selected candidate should exhibit competencies such as critical thinking, communication, teamwork, customer orientation, problem-solving, and decision-making.
Educational Background: The educational background required for this position includes a technical degree in maintenance as a preferred qualification.
