Job Overview: In this role, you will serve as a creative strategist and experience design leader, responsible for transforming complex ideas into visually engaging and emotionally impactful experiences. You will leverage your strong design perspective and methodical approach to enhance how audiences interact with the Foundation's brand. Your expertise will encompass brand design systems, exhibit and environmental design, immersive storytelling, and experiential marketing, focusing on developing interactive activations that directly engage audiences and inspire action. You will collaborate with experience and UX designers to lead the development and evolution of design and brand systems across various touchpoints, including physical, graphic, and digital. Your responsibilities will include guiding the strategy and creative development of globally relevant exhibits, installations, and brand activations, ensuring that they are executed with design integrity and operational feasibility. You will also manage cross-functional collaborations to ensure cohesive brand experiences across all platforms, both in-person and digital.
Duties and Responsibilities: Your primary responsibilities will include leading the creative direction and experience design for exhibits, installations, and activations, ensuring that these experiences are visually compelling and aligned with the Foundation's strategic priorities. You will integrate a multi-channel mindset into the design process, ensuring that activations are designed for execution across physical, digital, and social platforms. You will develop and oversee a cohesive strategy for exhibits and brand activations in collaboration with various stakeholders, ensuring that these experiences effectively communicate the Foundation's mission. Additionally, you will steward and evolve the Foundation's brand visual design system, providing strategic guidance to ensure consistent application across all installations and activations. You will manage vendor selection, budget stewardship, production timelines, and coordinate with partners to deliver high-quality experiences on schedule. You will also collaborate with the brand storytelling lead to craft compelling narratives and audience journeys that enhance engagement and impact.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess an advanced degree in Design, Experience Design, Graphic Design, Communications, Marketing, Fine Arts, or a related field, along with demonstrated experience or equivalent qualifications. A proven track record of 8-10+ years in leading creative development for exhibits and experiential activations, particularly in international contexts, is essential. Candidates should have the ability to connect physical experiences to digital ecosystems and possess strong visual and spatial design skills. Experience in leading and evolving brand visual design systems across various environments is crucial, as is the ability to work collaboratively across creative and communications teams. A global perspective and familiarity with global health, development, or social impact communications are also important.
Educational Background: An advanced degree in a relevant field such as Design, Experience Design, Graphic Design, Communications, Marketing, Fine Arts, or a related discipline is required. This educational background should be complemented by substantial practical experience in the field.
Experience: Candidates should have a minimum of 8-10 years of experience in creative development for exhibits and experiential activations, particularly in international settings. Experience in adapting creative concepts to diverse cultural contexts and audiences is highly valued. Additionally, candidates should have a strong understanding of design principles across both physical and digital environments.
Languages: While multilingual capabilities are preferred, candidates must have unrestricted work authorization in the country where this position is located. Extensive experience working in non-U.S. contexts is strongly preferred, and familiarity with multiple languages can enhance a candidate's profile.

The salary range for this role is between $173,000 and $259,600 USD, with higher ranges for specific locations such as Seattle and Washington D.C. where the salary range is between $190,300 and $285,500 USD. The Foundation strives to balance competitive pay with its mission, and new hires typically fall between the minimum and midpoint of the salary range based on their skills and experience.
