Consultant Engineer to Support the CEP

Job Overview:
The position of Consultant Engineer to Support the CEP involves providing specialized engineering consultancy services to assist the CEP (which stands for a specific project or initiative under UNDP). The consultant will be expected to apply their technical expertise to support the planning, implementation, and evaluation of engineering projects. This role requires a deep understanding of engineering principles and practices, as well as the ability to work collaboratively with various stakeholders, including government officials, community members, and other partners. The consultant will be responsible for analyzing project requirements, developing engineering solutions, and ensuring that all activities align with UNDP's strategic objectives. The position also entails preparing detailed reports and documentation to communicate findings and recommendations effectively.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The Consultant Engineer will have a comprehensive set of duties and responsibilities, including but not limited to: conducting feasibility studies and assessments for engineering projects; designing and developing engineering plans and specifications; collaborating with project teams to ensure timely and effective implementation of engineering solutions; providing technical guidance and support to project stakeholders; monitoring project progress and performance, and making necessary adjustments to ensure objectives are met; preparing and presenting technical reports and documentation; ensuring compliance with relevant regulations and standards; and participating in stakeholder meetings to provide updates and gather feedback.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a strong set of qualifications, including a degree in engineering or a related field, with a focus on civil, mechanical, or environmental engineering. Additionally, candidates should have a proven track record of successfully managing engineering projects, demonstrating both technical and project management skills. Familiarity with UNDP's operational procedures and standards is highly desirable. Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, as well as excellent communication and interpersonal skills, are essential for this role. Candidates should also be able to work independently and as part of a team, demonstrating flexibility and adaptability in a dynamic work environment.

Educational Background:
The educational background required for this position includes a bachelor's degree in engineering or a closely related discipline. A master's degree or higher qualification in engineering or project management would be an advantage. Candidates should have completed relevant coursework and training that equips them with the necessary technical skills and knowledge to perform effectively in this role.

Experience:
The level of experience needed for the position includes a minimum of 5 years of professional experience in engineering consultancy or project management. Candidates should have experience working on international development projects, preferably within the context of UNDP or similar organizations. Demonstrated experience in stakeholder engagement and collaboration with government entities and local communities is also crucial. Previous experience in the specific engineering field relevant to the CEP will be considered an asset.

Languages:
Fluency in both English and French is mandatory for this position, as these are the primary languages used in UNDP operations in Haiti. Proficiency in additional languages, particularly Haitian Creole, would be considered a valuable asset, enhancing communication with local stakeholders and communities.

This position is classified as an individual contractor role, which may imply a flexible contract duration based on project needs. The consultant will be expected to work full-time, with specific hours to be agreed upon.
