Job Overview:
The Social & Behavior Change Officer will work under the guidance of the Chief CSD, SBC Section, and closely coordinate with Sectoral and Cross-Sectoral Specialists and Officers. The primary responsibilities include designing, managing, monitoring, and evaluating evidence-based, inclusive, and innovative SBC strategies to support immunization efforts. The role requires generating and utilizing research, data, and evidence to inform SBC design" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">program design and outcomes in both development and emergency contexts. The officer will also be responsible for planning and implementing SBC activities that are grounded in social and behavioral evidence, ensuring strong engagement and participation mechanisms. Additionally, the officer will advocate for SBC, mobilize resources, coordinate across various stakeholders, and promote continuous learning and capacity building for UNICEF staff and partners in both development and humanitarian contexts.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Generate and utilize research, data, and evidence to inform the design, measurement, and monitoring of SBC programs and outcomes.
  • Design, plan, and implement SBC activities backed by social and behavioral evidence.
  • Advocate for SBC and mobilize resources while coordinating across stakeholders and sectors.
  • Promote continuous learning and scaling up of SBC through capacity building for UNICEF staff and partners.
  • Monitor and evaluate SBC strategies and programs to ensure effectiveness and impact.
  • Collaborate with various teams to integrate SBC into broader programmatic efforts.
  • Engage with communities to ensure their participation in SBC initiatives.
  • Report on SBC program outcomes and provide recommendations for improvement.

Required Qualifications:
  • A university degree (Bachelor’s or higher) in social and behavioral science, sociology, anthropology, communication studies, psychology, or a related field.
  • A minimum of two years of professional experience in social development program planning, communication for development, or social and behavior change.
  • Skills in humanitarian and program planning are essential.
  • Experience in advocacy and partnership building is desirable.
  • Relevant experience in a UN system agency or international organization is considered an asset.

Educational Background:
Candidates must possess at least a Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field such as social and behavioral sciences, sociology, anthropology, communication studies, or psychology. Higher degrees are preferred and may enhance the candidate's profile.

Experience:
The position requires a minimum of two years of professional experience in relevant fields such as social development program planning, communication for development, or social and behavior change. Experience in humanitarian contexts and program planning is essential, and familiarity with UN systems or international organizations is advantageous.

Languages:
Fluency in French is mandatory for this position. Knowledge of another official UN language (Arabic, Chinese, English, Russian, or Spanish) or a local language is considered an asset and may enhance the candidate's qualifications.
