Job Overview:
The WASH Specialist position at UNICEF involves reporting to the Chief Field Office and Chief of WASH. The role is crucial for the development, preparation, management, implementation, monitoring, and evaluation of the WASH programme within the country programme. The specialist will provide technical guidance and management support throughout the programming processes, ensuring the achievement of WASH-related output results. Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess an advanced university degree (Master's or equivalent) in fields such as public health, social sciences, behavior change communication, sanitary engineering, or other relevant technical fields. Additionally, candidates should have at least 5 years of relevant work experience in WASH-related programmes in developing countries, including one year of deployment in a developing country and at least one three-month deployment mission in a humanitarian context with UN, government, or INGO.
Educational Background:
The educational requirement for this position is an advanced university degree (Master's or equivalent) in relevant fields such as public health, social sciences, behavior change communication, sanitary engineering, or other technical disciplines that relate to WASH.
Experience:
The position requires a minimum of 5 years of relevant work experience in WASH-related programmes, particularly in developing countries. Candidates must have experience in humanitarian contexts, including at least one three-month deployment mission in a humanitarian situation, which is essential for understanding the complexities of WASH in emergencies.
Languages:
Fluency in French is mandatory for this position. Knowledge of another official UN language (Arabic, Chinese, English, Russian, or Spanish) or a local language is considered an asset, enhancing the candidate's ability to communicate effectively in diverse settings.
