Job Overview:
The position of Assistant Logistique (Opérations Portuaires) at WFP is crucial for managing complex port operations that are essential for the delivery of humanitarian aid in Haiti. The role is based in Port-au-Prince and involves overseeing the logistics of cargo operations at the port, which includes the receipt and unloading of shipments, coordination with shipping companies and port authorities, and organizing transportation to distribution hubs. The Assistant will work closely with customs and logistics partners to ensure that aid is delivered efficiently and effectively, navigating challenges such as lengthy customs procedures, security risks, and port congestion. Duties and Responsibilities:
The Assistant Logistique will be responsible for a variety of tasks, including but not limited to: organizing and verifying transport and customs documentation to ensure compliance and timely submission; collaborating with shipping agents and port authorities to ensure the efficiency of loading and unloading operations; facilitating customs clearance procedures in coordination with relevant authorities; liaising with cargo supervision companies to protect WFP's interests and report any losses or damages; providing regular updates to the Logistics Officer regarding cargo status, provider performance, and operational challenges; contributing to the optimization of procedures, documentation, and reporting; maintaining communication with stakeholders and conducting field visits to ensure operational fluidity; and executing any other logistics-related tasks as required by the service.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a secondary education, with a post-secondary certificate in a relevant functional area being desirable. They should have at least 5 years of experience in port operations, maritime transport, or customs clearance in Haiti. The role requires strong analytical skills for data analysis, budget tracking, and report writing. Proficiency in supply chain databases for tracking contracts, cargo, and claims is essential. Candidates should have excellent knowledge of customs procedures in Haiti, particularly those applicable to humanitarian imports, and experience in coordinating logistics actors to support maritime transport operations. Additionally, experience in contract management and performance monitoring is required.

Educational Background:
The minimum educational requirement for this position is the completion of secondary education. A post-secondary certificate in a relevant field is preferred, which may enhance the candidate's qualifications and understanding of logistics and supply chain management.

Experience:
The ideal candidate should have a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in port operations, maritime transport, or customs clearance. This experience should be specifically within the context of Haiti, allowing the candidate to navigate the unique challenges and regulations of the local logistics environment effectively.

Languages:
Fluency in French is mandatory, along with a good command of English. Knowledge of Haitian Creole is essential, as it facilitates communication with local stakeholders and enhances operational effectiveness in the region.
