Job Overview:
The Programme Associate position at UN Women involves providing support to the Ending Violence Against Women and Girls (EVAWG) Team in Kenya. The role requires collaboration with team members to develop and implement effective programs that align with UN Women’s rules and regulations. The Programme Associate will be responsible for providing programmatic, administrative, and logistical assistance to ensure smooth program implementation. This includes supporting the development of technical tools and initiatives, monitoring program implementation, and contributing to resource mobilization strategies. The position also entails building partnerships with national stakeholders and ensuring alignment with other UN agencies and NGOs in Kenya.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The duties and responsibilities of the Programme Associate include:
  • Providing technical assistance and capacity development to project/programme partners, including identifying their needs and leading training initiatives.
  • Supporting the monitoring and reporting of program/project implementation, including conducting field missions and drafting high-quality reports.
  • Assisting in the development and implementation of resource mobilization strategies, conducting donor research, and preparing documentation for donor engagement.
  • Coordinating inter-agency efforts on EVAWG, representing the program in meetings, and ensuring alignment with other partners.
  • Providing administrative and logistical support for the management of EVAW programs, including budget preparation and financial monitoring.
  • Supporting advocacy and visibility activities related to gender equality and women's empowerment.
  • Managing logistical arrangements for meetings and events, including travel arrangements and documentation preparation.

Required Qualifications:
The required qualifications for the Programme Associate position include:
  • Completion of secondary education is required, with a Bachelor’s degree in social sciences, human rights, gender/women's studies, international development, or a related field being an asset.
  • A project/programme management certification is considered an advantage.
  • Strong knowledge of program management and the ability to present information clearly and effectively.
  • Good financial and budgeting skills, along with proficiency in IT and office software packages.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to engage with diverse stakeholders.

Educational Background:
Candidates must have completed secondary education, with a Bachelor’s degree in relevant fields such as social sciences, human rights, gender/women's studies, or international development being preferred. Additional certifications in project or program management are advantageous and can enhance a candidate's profile for this role.

Experience:
The position requires at least 6 years of progressively responsible work experience at the national or international level in areas such as design, planning, implementation, monitoring, and evaluation of development projects. Technical experience in Ending Violence Against Women and Girls is essential, along with experience in coordinating with government agencies and donors. Familiarity with the UN System and experience using Quantum and PRISM software are also beneficial.

Languages:
Fluency in English is mandatory for this position. Knowledge of another official UN language, such as French, Arabic, Chinese, Russian, or Spanish, is desirable and can be an asset in enhancing communication and collaboration within the UN framework.

This is an office-based consultancy role, with travel required as per program needs.
