Job Overview: The Social Policy Officer (CRVS) position is crucial for providing technical support and assistance throughout all stages of Civil Registration and Vital Statistics (CRVS) programming and advocacy within UNICEF Bangladesh. Duties and Responsibilities: The major duties and responsibilities of the Social Policy Officer (CRVS) include: 1) Supporting the development and planning of CRVS systems; 2) Assisting in policy and legal reform related to CRVS; 3) Integrating CRVS into broader programmatic frameworks; 4) Innovating systems and building capacity within national frameworks; 5) Networking and building partnerships with stakeholders to enhance CRVS initiatives. Additionally, candidates should have a minimum of 2 years of relevant work experience, particularly in areas such as birth registration, legal identity, statelessness, or CRVS program formulation, design, implementation, and management. Strong analytical, reporting, and program formulation skills are essential, along with a solid background in data analysis and database management.
Educational Background: Candidates must have a Bachelor’s degree or an equivalent qualification in a relevant field such as Social Science, Statistics, Economics, International Law, Demography, or public policy strategic planning. This educational background is crucial for understanding the complexities of CRVS systems and the legal frameworks that govern them.
Experience: A minimum of 2 years of relevant work experience is required for this position. Candidates should have previous experience in areas related to birth registration, legal identity, statelessness, or CRVS program formulation, design, implementation, and management. Experience in working with government and civil society partners is highly desirable, as is familiarity with the dynamics of CRVS systems in Bangladesh.
Languages: Fluency in English is mandatory for this position. Knowledge of another official UN language such as Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian, or Spanish is considered an asset.
