Job Overview:
The consultant will support the Health Programme Team in developing and implementing a Knowledge and Research Approach aligned with UNICEF's 2026–2030 Strategic Plan. This role involves enhancing the capacity of UNICEF's health workforce across Centers of Excellence (CoEs) and country offices by providing robust evidence to support technical assistance. The consultant will be responsible for creating systems and processes to grow the knowledge evidence base, utilizing new technologies such as AI to optimize evidence tracking. The position requires collaboration with various stakeholders to ensure effective knowledge transfer and the generation of evidence for child thought leadership and programming.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Conduct a comprehensive scoping of existing knowledge and research, utilizing the TA Hub knowledge area to identify gaps and needs.
  • Develop a strategic approach for utilizing evidence and data to support UNICEF’s vision for child thought leadership.
  • Advise on and establish standards for the quality sign-off of evidence pieces.
  • Collaborate with partners to develop strategies for accessing and utilizing knowledge from low- and middle-income countries (LMICs).
  • Facilitate the generation of evidence from LMICs to enhance UNICEF's programming and advocacy efforts.
  • Ensure timely and high-quality coordination of Health corporate reporting inputs.
  • Strengthen institutional capacity for knowledge management within UNICEF’s Health CoE and country offices.
  • Create mechanisms for effective knowledge transfer between headquarters and CoEs.

Required Qualifications:
  • A PhD in Public Health or a related field is mandatory.
  • At least 25 years of experience in global public health, with a preference for 30 years.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and oral, with a proven track record in writing and editing for knowledge platforms.
  • Previous experience with UNICEF is highly desirable.
  • Knowledge of another official UN language (Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian, or Spanish) or a local language is an asset.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and experience working in multicultural environments.
  • A demonstrated commitment to UNICEF’s mission and core values.

Educational Background:
Candidates must possess a PhD in Public Health or a related discipline. A strong academic background is essential, with a focus on knowledge generation and management in the context of child health and development.

Experience:
The position requires a minimum of 25 years of experience in global public health, with a preference for candidates who have 30 years of relevant experience. This experience should include significant involvement in knowledge management and research generation, particularly in relation to child health and advocacy.

Languages:
Fluency in English is mandatory, and proficiency in one other UN language is preferred. Knowledge of local languages may also be beneficial.
