Job Overview:
As a Supply and Logistic Officer at UNICEF, you will report to the Head of Operations or Supply and logistics-manager" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">Logistics Manager/Specialist, depending on the Country Office's structure. Your primary responsibility will be to provide technical and operational support for managing the supply chains of a small-sized country office or specific elements of a larger supply operation. This role encompasses various supply chain operations, including planning, procurement, contracting, customs clearance, warehousing, in-country transport, and distribution. You will also monitor supplies, services, and construction works, ensuring that management collaborates effectively with programs to define supply interventions that meet programmatic needs and achieve results for children. This position requires a proactive approach to support technical and advisory efforts to governments, national systems, and partners on supply chain management, emphasizing the importance of innovation and responsiveness to changing circumstances.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The key functions and accountabilities of the Supply and Logistic Officer include:
  • Supervision of the supply team to ensure effective service delivery and emergency response.
  • Collaboration with program and implementing partners to align supply chain operations with programmatic goals.
  • Providing technical and advisory support to government and national systems to enhance supply chain management capabilities.
  • Innovating and exploring new products and markets to improve supply chain efficiency.
  • Monitoring and evaluating supply chain processes to ensure compliance with UNICEF standards and best practices.
  • Managing procurement processes, including drafting contracts and overseeing customs clearance.
  • Ensuring effective warehousing and distribution of supplies, including in-country transport logistics.
  • Conducting needs assessments to inform supply chain planning and strategy formulation.
  • Developing and maintaining partnerships with stakeholders to facilitate smooth supply chain operations.

Required Qualifications:
To qualify for this position, candidates must possess a Bachelor’s degree or equivalent (First Level University Degree) in Business Administration, Management, Economics, Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Procurement, Contract/Commercial Law, International Development, Health, or a related social science field. Additionally, candidates should demonstrate the ability to work in a multicultural environment, establish harmonious working relationships, and adapt to change. Strong analytical and negotiating skills are essential, along with a good understanding of supply chain processes and public procurement principles. Candidates should also have the ability to manage financial and material resources effectively and supervise a team of professionals and support staff.

Educational Background:
The educational background required for this position includes a Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in relevant fields such as Business Administration, Management, Economics, Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Procurement, Contract/Commercial Law, International Development, Health, or related social sciences. This foundational education is crucial for understanding the complexities of supply chain management and logistics within the context of UNICEF's operations.

Experience:
Candidates must have a minimum of two (2) years of relevant experience at both national and international levels in areas such as supply, logistics, procurement, contracting, administration, or other directly-related technical fields. This experience is vital for effectively managing supply chain operations and ensuring compliance with UNICEF's standards and practices.

Languages:
Fluency in French is required for this position. Additionally, knowledge of another official UN language (Arabic, Chinese, English, Russian, or Spanish) or a local language is considered desirable.
