Job Overview:
The Research Analyst position focuses on agriculture, water resources, and energy sectors in Punjab, Pakistan. The role involves conducting in-depth research and analysis to support UNDP's initiatives in these critical areas. The analyst will be responsible for gathering and interpreting data, preparing reports, and providing insights that will inform policy decisions and project implementations. The position requires a strong understanding of the local context, including socio-economic factors affecting agriculture and water resources, as well as energy sustainability. The analyst will work closely with various stakeholders, including government agencies, NGOs, and community organizations, to ensure that research findings are effectively communicated and utilized in program development.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Conduct comprehensive research on agriculture, water resources, and energy sectors in Punjab, including data collection and analysis.
  • Prepare detailed reports and presentations summarizing research findings and recommendations.
  • Collaborate with local stakeholders to gather insights and validate research outcomes.
  • Monitor and evaluate ongoing projects related to agriculture, water resources, and energy, providing feedback for improvement.
  • Assist in the development of project proposals and funding applications based on research findings.
  • Stay updated on national and international trends in agriculture, water management, and energy policies.
  • Participate in workshops and meetings to present research findings and contribute to discussions on policy implications.
  • Provide technical support to project teams in implementing research-based strategies.

Required Qualifications:
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex data sets.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
  • Proficiency in statistical software and data analysis tools.
  • Familiarity with research methodologies and project management principles.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Knowledge of local agricultural practices, water resource management, and energy policies is an advantage.

Educational Background:
A Master's degree in Environmental Science, Agricultural Economics, Water Resource Management, or a related field is required. A Bachelor's degree in a relevant discipline may be considered with additional relevant experience.

Experience:
A minimum of 3 years of professional experience in research, analysis, or project management related to agriculture, water resources, or energy sectors is required. Experience working with international organizations or NGOs is preferred.

Languages:
Fluency in English is mandatory. Knowledge of Urdu or Punjabi is considered an asset, as it will facilitate communication with local stakeholders and communities.

Additional Notes:
The position is a contract role with a duration of 220 days spread over 12 months.
