Job Overview:
The Research Analyst position focuses on health, nutrition, and population issues within the context of UNDP's mission in Pakistan. The role involves conducting comprehensive research and analysis to inform policy decisions and program development. The analyst will be expected to gather and interpret data related to health and nutrition, assess population dynamics, and contribute to the formulation of strategies that address these critical areas. The position requires a strong understanding of public health issues, nutrition policies, and demographic trends, as well as the ability to communicate findings effectively to stakeholders. The analyst will work closely with various teams within UNDP and partner organizations to ensure that research outputs are aligned with national priorities and international best practices.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Conduct thorough research and analysis on health, nutrition, and population issues in Pakistan.
  • Collect and analyze quantitative and qualitative data from various sources, including surveys, reports, and academic literature.
  • Prepare detailed reports and presentations summarizing research findings and recommendations.
  • Collaborate with government agencies, NGOs, and other stakeholders to gather insights and validate research outcomes.
  • Monitor and evaluate existing health and nutrition programs, providing feedback for improvement.
  • Assist in the development of policy briefs and strategic documents that address health and nutrition challenges.
  • Participate in workshops and meetings to present research findings and engage with stakeholders.
  • Stay updated on global trends and best practices in health and nutrition research.

Required Qualifications:
  • Proven experience in research and analysis, particularly in health, nutrition, or population studies.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex data sets.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with experience in report writing and presentations.
  • Familiarity with statistical software and data analysis tools.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and engage with diverse stakeholders.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.

Educational Background:
A Master's degree in Public Health, Nutrition, Demography, Social Sciences, or a related field is required. A PhD in a relevant discipline would be an advantage. Candidates with a strong academic background and relevant certifications in research methodologies will be preferred.

Experience:
A minimum of 3-5 years of professional experience in research, particularly in health, nutrition, or population studies. Experience working with international organizations or NGOs is highly desirable. Candidates should demonstrate a track record of successful research projects and publications in relevant fields.

Languages:
Fluency in English is mandatory, both written and spoken. Knowledge of local languages such as Urdu or Punjabi would be an asset, as it would facilitate communication with local stakeholders and communities.

Additional Notes:
The position is for an individual contractor and the assignment is expected to last for 220 days over a period of 12 months. The role is full-time and requires a commitment to the objectives of UNDP in Pakistan. Compensation will be commensurate with experience and qualifications.
