Job Overview: The MEAL Intern position is designed for individuals who are eager to gain hands-on experience in the field of Monitoring, Evaluation, Accountability, and Learning (MEAL). Duties and Responsibilities: The MEAL Intern will be responsible for a variety of tasks that are essential to the MEAL process. These include supporting routine field data collection activities using digital tools like KoboCollect, assisting in conducting assessments and surveys, and participating in post-distribution monitoring. The intern will also engage in spot checks and routine data quality checks in the field, assist with data entry, cleaning, and basic analysis using Excel or other data tools. Additionally, the intern will help prepare weekly, monthly, and activity reports, maintain organized filing systems for MEAL tools and documents, and support the collection and documentation of beneficiary feedback and complaints. Participation in community feedback sessions and field monitoring visits will also be part of the role, along with documenting success stories and lessons learned. The intern may also assist in logistics preparation for MEAL activities and perform any other MEAL-related duties assigned by the supervisor.
Required Qualifications: To be considered for the MEAL Intern position, candidates must be currently pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in fields such as Statistics, Economics, Social Sciences, Development Studies, Information Management, Data Science, or Monitoring & Evaluation. Familiarity with Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft Office applications is essential. Candidates should possess good communication and interpersonal skills, demonstrate adherence to DRC’s values and ethical standards, and have the ability to promote the vision and strategic goals of the DRC Uganda Program. Furthermore, candidates should display cultural sensitivity and adaptability, a strong willingness to learn, and a positive attitude towards work.
