Job Overview:
The Communications Analyst will play a crucial role in the Advancing Climate Resilience and Women’s Empowerment in Moldova (Afforestation) Project, which aims to enhance climate resilience and gender equality in rural Moldova through sustainable management of forest, pasture, and agricultural resources. The position involves planning, implementing, and coordinating communication, visibility, and public outreach activities to ensure increased visibility and stakeholder engagement. The Communications Analyst will support communication efforts related to climate action, gender equality, and sustainable resource management, while ensuring alignment with UNDP corporate communication standards and national priorities. The role requires a proactive approach to disseminating project results and engaging with various stakeholders, including media, local communities, and government authorities.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The Communications Analyst will be responsible for a wide range of duties, including:
  • Communication Planning and Management: Contributing to the development and regular updating of the Project’s communication and visibility plan, ensuring timely delivery of communication outputs, and monitoring the effectiveness of communication activities.
  • Visibility of Project Results and Media Engagement: Drafting and disseminating communication materials such as press releases, success stories, and social media posts, as well as liaising with media outlets to ensure adequate coverage of project activities.
  • Campaigns and Public Outreach Activities: Coordinating communication support for national awareness campaigns, ensuring consistency of messaging and branding across all campaign-related activities.
  • Events Communication: Supporting communication and visibility for key project events, ensuring appropriate visibility of UNDP and national partners.
  • Other communication-related duties as necessary for the efficient functioning of the Project and the Organization.

Required Qualifications:
The position requires a Master’s degree (or equivalent) in Journalism, Communication, Public Relations, Sociology, International Relations, Environmental Studies, or a related field. Alternatively, a Bachelor’s degree in the aforementioned fields combined with at least two years of relevant professional experience is acceptable. Applicants with a Master’s degree are not required to have prior professional experience, while those with a Bachelor’s degree must have at least two years of relevant experience in communication, media, public outreach, or related fields. Desired skills include experience working with mass media in Moldova, familiarity with the national media landscape, and experience in communication related to public policies, environmental protection, and sustainable development.

Educational Background:
Candidates must possess a Master’s degree in a relevant field such as Journalism, Communication, Public Relations, Sociology, International Relations, or Environmental Studies. A Bachelor’s degree in these fields is acceptable if combined with at least two additional years of relevant professional experience. Additional training or certification in communication, media, or digital communication is considered an advantage.

Experience:
The position requires a minimum of two years of relevant work experience for candidates with a Bachelor’s degree. Those with a Master’s degree are not required to have prior professional experience. Relevant experience includes communication, media, public outreach, visibility, or related fields. Experience working with UN entities, international organizations, or NGOs is an asset, as is experience in climate and environmental communications.

Languages:
Fluency in Romanian and English is required for this position. A working knowledge of one or more additional languages relevant for Moldova, such as Bulgarian, Gagauzian, Romani, Russian, Ukrainian, or sign language, is considered an asset.
