Job Overview:
The position of Consultant(e) junior national(e) is primarily focused on supporting data collection, consultations, and document analysis as part of the review of the national implementation strategy for the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) in Guinea. The consultant will be expected to work closely with various stakeholders to gather relevant data and insights that will inform the strategic review process. This role requires a proactive approach to engage with local communities, government officials, and other relevant entities to ensure comprehensive data collection. The consultant will also be responsible for analyzing the collected data and providing recommendations based on their findings. The position is home-based but may require on-site presence when necessary, indicating a flexible working arrangement that accommodates both remote and in-person work as needed.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Conduct thorough data collection through surveys, interviews, and consultations with stakeholders involved in the AfCFTA implementation in Guinea.
  • Analyze collected data to identify trends, challenges, and opportunities related to the national strategy for AfCFTA.
  • Prepare detailed reports summarizing findings and recommendations based on data analysis.
  • Collaborate with UNDP and other partners to ensure alignment of data collection efforts with national priorities and strategies.
  • Facilitate workshops and meetings to discuss findings and gather additional insights from stakeholders.
  • Ensure that all data collection and analysis activities adhere to ethical standards and best practices.
  • Provide ongoing support and updates to the UNDP project team throughout the duration of the consultancy.
  • Assist in the preparation of presentations and materials for stakeholders to communicate findings effectively.

Required Qualifications:
  • Proven experience in data collection and analysis, particularly in the context of national development strategies or trade agreements.
  • Strong understanding of the AfCFTA and its implications for Guinea’s economy.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to engage effectively with diverse stakeholders.
  • Ability to work independently and manage time effectively to meet deadlines.
  • Proficiency in data analysis software and tools is an advantage.
  • Familiarity with UNDP’s operational procedures and guidelines is a plus.

Educational Background:
A minimum of a bachelor’s degree in economics, social sciences, international relations, or a related field is required. A master’s degree in a relevant discipline would be an asset and may enhance the candidate’s competitiveness for the position.

Experience:
Candidates should have at least 2-3 years of relevant experience in data collection, analysis, and project support, preferably within the context of international development or trade policy. Experience working with UN agencies or similar organizations is highly desirable.

Languages:
Fluency in French is mandatory, given the local context and the language of the job. Proficiency in English is considered an asset, as it may facilitate communication with international stakeholders and access to broader resources.

This consultancy is expected to last for a duration of 30 days over a period of 2 months. The position is classified as a consultant role, which may involve both home-based work and on-site presence as required.
