Job Overview: The primary purpose of the Driver role is to facilitate transportation logistics in Ukraine, specifically to plan and manage fleet activities that support relief operations in the Dnipropetrovska and Zaporizhska oblasts. The Driver will be responsible for the safe and efficient transport of operations teams and field offices, ensuring that all transportation needs are met in a timely manner. This role requires a proactive approach to vehicle management, including regular inspections, maintenance coordination, and compliance with local traffic regulations. The Driver will also be expected to maintain communication with the Supply ChainTeam Leader and security" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">Security Specialist, ensuring that all operational needs are addressed promptly. The position is crucial for the smooth functioning of DRC's humanitarian efforts in the region, and the successful candidate will play a key role in supporting the organization's mission to assist displaced populations.
Duties and Responsibilities: The Driver will have a comprehensive set of responsibilities, including but not limited to: conducting daily vehicle driving duties and inspections in accordance with the Supply Chain Manual and Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) for Fleet Management; ensuring the safe transportation of passengers and cargo; maintaining a Vehicle Logsheet, First Aid Kit, and Fire Extinguisher in each vehicle; cleaning vehicles as needed; reporting any accidents, damages, or defects to the Supply Chain Team Leader and Security Specialist, and completing the necessary Accident Report; ensuring that Vehicle Logsheets are accurately completed and submitted on time; parking assigned vehicles correctly during the day and at night; advising the Supply Chain Team Leader of required vehicle services and maintenance at least three days in advance; checking vehicles after repairs to confirm completion of work; complying with traffic regulations and DRC's internal rules; monitoring fuel levels and organizing refueling; maintaining possession of a valid driving license and ensuring its renewal; and performing other duties as assigned by the Supply Chain Team Leader in Dnipro.
Required Qualifications: To be considered for this position, candidates must possess a clean driving license with no conviction letter, experience driving 4x2 and 4x4 vehicles, and proficiency in manual transmission. Additionally, candidates should have a minimum of three years of accident-free driving experience in a similar role, preferably with international non-governmental organizations (INGOs). Knowledge of vehicle technical characteristics and basic computer literacy, including proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook), are also required. Fluency in the Ukrainian language is mandatory, and familiarity with the local area is essential for effective navigation and transportation.
Educational Background: The minimum educational requirement for this position is secondary education. However, a university degree is desirable and may enhance a candidate's application. The educational background should ideally include training or coursework related to logistics, transportation, or a relevant field that supports the responsibilities of the Driver role.
Experience: Candidates should have a minimum of three years of relevant experience in a driving position, with a proven track record of accident-free driving. Experience working with international non-governmental organizations (INGOs) is preferred, as it demonstrates familiarity with the operational standards and expectations of humanitarian work. The ability to manage logistics and transportation effectively in a challenging environment is crucial for success in this role.
Languages: Fluency in the Ukrainian language is mandatory for this position, as it is essential for communication and navigation within the local context. Knowledge of the English language is considered a privilege and may enhance the candidate's qualifications, particularly in an international organization like DRC where English is often used for documentation and communication with international staff.
