Job Overview:
The UN Clinic Relief Physician will serve as a part-time physician at the UN Clinic, providing essential medical services to UN staff members and their dependents. This role is critical in ensuring that UN field personnel, who may face various health and security" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">security hazards, receive dedicated and effective primary health care, occupational health services, and emergency medical care. The physician will also facilitate medical evacuations and collaborate with headquarters on related matters, ensuring the consistent delivery of high-quality medical services to the UN Country Team (UNCT). The position requires a proactive approach to occupational health policies and practices, as well as participation in HIV-related initiatives within the UN workplace. The physician will be part of the emergency response team, working closely with the Department of Safety and Security (DSS) to implement case-vacuation and mass casualty response protocols.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The UN Relief Physician will be responsible for providing clinical services, including medical consultations and emergency care, to UN staff and their dependents. Duties include conducting medical examinations, supervising medical staff such as nurses, lab technicians, and pharmacists, and promoting occupational health policies and best practices. The physician will also engage in outreach efforts to educate staff and dependents on preventative health measures. Additionally, the physician will participate in emergency response activities and collaborate with DSS on health-related emergencies. The role involves maintaining accurate medical records, ensuring compliance with UN medical protocols, and participating in training and capacity-building initiatives for medical staff.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a valid medical degree and relevant medical licenses to practice in Nigeria. They should have a strong understanding of primary health care, occupational health, and emergency medical services. Experience in a clinical setting, particularly in international or humanitarian contexts, is highly desirable. Candidates should demonstrate excellent communication skills, the ability to work collaboratively in a multicultural environment, and a commitment to the principles of the United Nations.

Educational Background:
A medical degree from an accredited institution is required. Additional certifications in emergency medicine, occupational health, or public health will be considered an asset. Continuous professional development and training in relevant medical fields are encouraged and may be required.

Experience:
Candidates should have a minimum of 3-5 years of clinical experience, preferably in a primary care or emergency medicine setting. Experience working with international organizations or in humanitarian contexts is highly valued. Familiarity with UN policies and procedures related to health services is a plus.

Languages:
Fluency in English is mandatory. Proficiency in additional languages, particularly French or Arabic, is considered an advantage and may enhance communication with diverse staff members and stakeholders.

Additional Notes:
This consultancy assignment is on a retainer basis for a duration of 12 months, with the physician being on call as needed. The position is classified as a national individual contract, and candidates must be eligible to work in Nigeria. The role may require flexibility in working hours and the ability to respond to emergencies outside of regular working hours. Compensation and benefits will be discussed during the selection process.
