The Danish Refugee Council (DRC) is a prominent protection agency established to safeguard, advocate for, and promote sustainable solutions for populations affected by displacement. Operating in Ukraine since 2014, DRC has grown significantly, currently employing over 800 staff members across the country. The organization implements emergency responses in various sectors, including Protection, Livelihoods, Shelter/NFIs, and Humanitarian Disarmament and Peacebuilding, utilizing direct interventions, support to duty bearers, and partnerships with civil society organizations (CSOs). DRC is committed to adapting its durable solutions portfolio to meet the evolving context of humanitarian needs in Ukraine, ensuring that it remains responsive and effective in its mission to support those affected by conflict and displacement.

Job Overview:
The primary purpose of the Driver role is to facilitate and manage passenger transportation within Ukraine, specifically focusing on the Kharkiv and Donetsk regions. This position involves planning and overseeing transport and logistics activities that support humanitarian assistance operations. The driver will be responsible for ensuring safe and efficient transport for operations teams and field offices, which may include business trips throughout Ukraine. The role requires a proactive approach to vehicle management, ensuring that all transportation needs are met while adhering to safety protocols and operational guidelines. The driver will play a crucial role in maintaining the functionality and readiness of the vehicle, contributing to the overall success of DRC's humanitarian efforts in the region.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The Driver will be tasked with a variety of responsibilities, including but not limited to: conducting daily vehicle driving duties and performing inspections in accordance with the Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) for Fleet Management; ensuring that each vehicle is equipped with a Vehicle Logbook, First Aid Kit, and Fire Extinguisher; maintaining cleanliness of the vehicles both inside and out; reporting any accidents, damages, or defects to the Fleet Officer and security" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">Security Specialist, and completing the necessary Accident Report; ensuring that Vehicle Logbooks are accurately filled out; parking vehicles correctly during both day and night at the office parking; adhering to all traffic laws and regulations of Ukraine and DRC; advising the Supply Chain Officer of any required service and maintenance for the assigned vehicle at least three days in advance; communicating effectively with Fleet Officers and Security Officers; monitoring fuel levels and organizing refueling; and submitting the completed Logbook to the Fleet Officer at the end of each day. The driver is expected to work in alignment with the operational needs of the organization, demonstrating flexibility and responsiveness to changing circumstances.

Required Qualifications:
To be considered for this position, candidates must possess a valid driver’s license in categories B and C, with category C being an advantage. Additionally, candidates should have a minimum of three years of driving experience, preferably within international non-governmental organizations (INGOs). Other required qualifications include fluency in the Ukrainian language, an accident-free driving record for at least three years in a similar role, knowledge of the technical specifications of vehicles, and basic computer literacy, including proficiency in Microsoft Office applications such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook. Familiarity with the local area is also essential for effective navigation and transportation.

Educational Background:
The minimum educational requirement for this position is secondary education. However, candidates with a university degree will be viewed favorably. The educational background should ideally include training or coursework relevant to vehicle operation and maintenance, as well as any additional certifications that may enhance the candidate's qualifications for the role.

Experience:
Candidates should have a minimum of three years of relevant driving experience, particularly in roles that involve transportation for humanitarian or non-profit organizations. Experience with manual transmission vehicles is preferred, as is a demonstrated ability to navigate and operate vehicles in various conditions. Familiarity with the operational needs of humanitarian organizations and the ability to adapt to changing circumstances will be beneficial.

Languages:
Fluency in the Ukrainian language is mandatory for this position, as effective communication is essential for the role. Proficiency in English at level A1 is considered desirable, as it may facilitate communication with international staff and stakeholders.

Additional Notes:
The position offers two types of contracts: a fixed-term contract for the first recommended candidate with a three-month probationary period, which may be extended based on performance and funding availability; and a temporary replacement contract for the second recommended candidate, covering the absence of the regular driver during sick leave, expected to last approximately 1.5 to 3 months. The position is classified as non-managerial (Band J) and is based in Barvinkove. The anticipated start date for the role is June or July 202
