Job Overview:
The position involves supporting the conceptualization and delivery of the Youth Climate Summer School 2026 in Turkmenistan. This initiative aims to strengthen youth engagement in climate action, disaster risk reduction, and emergency preparedness. The consultant will be responsible for designing the overall concept, curriculum, and implementation plan for the summer school, which includes developing learning modules and facilitating training sessions. The role also entails leading participant recruitment, mentoring youth-led climate projects, and coordinating community-oriented initiatives. The consultant will work closely with current participants and alumni to foster partnerships that enhance civic engagement and local climate action, ensuring that the program effectively addresses the challenges posed by climate change.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Design the overall concept, curriculum, and implementation plan for the Youth Climate Summer School 2026, including learning modules, activities, and facilitation materials.
  • Lead the participant recruitment and selection process, which includes outreach, application review, interviews, and final selection of participants.
  • Facilitate key training sessions, workshops, simulations, and youth engagement activities throughout the program.
  • Support the development of the National Youth Climate Statement for COP3
  • Provide mentoring and oversight for youth-led climate project development, implementation, and monitoring.
  • Support the design and implementation of youth-led community projects by facilitating cooperation between young participants, alumni, and relevant NGOs, fostering partnerships that strengthen civic engagement, local climate action, and the sustainability of youth-driven initiatives.

Required Qualifications:
  • University Degree in Social Sciences, Education, Environment Studies, International Cooperation, or Management.
  • Proven experience in conducting events related to climate change, environmental sustainability, and youth engagement.
  • Past experience in conceptualizing and delivering climate/environment-focused summer schools or eco-camps.
  • A record of implementing and coordinating youth-led community-oriented projects.
  • Links to a portfolio of work/articles or any other materials developed in the area of climate change are required.

Educational Background:
Candidates must possess a University Degree in relevant fields such as Social Sciences, Education, Environment Studies, International Cooperation, or Management. This educational background is essential to ensure that the consultant has the necessary knowledge and skills to effectively engage with youth and design educational programs focused on climate change and sustainability.

Experience:
The position requires proven experience in conducting events related to climate change and environmental sustainability, particularly those that engage youth. Candidates should have a track record of conceptualizing and delivering climate-focused educational programs, such as summer schools or eco-camps. Additionally, experience in implementing and coordinating youth-led community projects is essential, as the consultant will be responsible for mentoring and overseeing these initiatives.

Languages:
Knowledge of Turkmen, Russian, and English languages is mandatory for this position. Proficiency in these languages is crucial for effective communication with participants, stakeholders, and partners involved in the Youth Climate Summer School. Familiarity with UNICEF's mandate and exposure to UNICEF/UN work, either as a young participant or in a volunteer capacity, will be considered an advantage.
