Job Overview: The Consultant for ATHIS Training Facilitation will play a crucial role in supporting the implementation of the project aimed at enhancing technical assistance for social housing in Brazil. This position involves developing training plans and materials tailored to different target audiences, including municipal professionals, civil society organizations, and architecture professionals. The consultant will be responsible for delivering training sessions that emphasize practical learning and field-based activities. Additionally, the consultant will contribute to the development of a Monitoring and Evaluation Strategy, ensuring that gender-sensitive approaches are integrated. The role requires collaboration with various stakeholders and the ability to adapt training content to local contexts, ultimately aiming to bridge the gap between policy and practice in social housing.
Duties and Responsibilities: The consultant's responsibilities include: 1) Supporting the development of thematic areas for the ATHIS training plan based on capacity needs assessments. 2) Creating a comprehensive training plan and materials for three distinct modules targeting different professional groups. 3) Delivering engaging training sessions that prioritize hands-on learning experiences. 4) Collaborating on the development of a Monitoring and Evaluation Strategy with UN-Habitat experts and partners. 5) Conducting virtual capacity-building sessions for global south professionals. 6) Developing a methodology handbook for the Monitoring and Evaluation tool. 7) Facilitating collaborative training activities with CAU/SP professionals. 8) Designing assessment mechanisms to evaluate participants' learning outcomes. 9) Preparing detailed reports documenting training activities and outcomes. 10) Participating in field missions as required for project implementation.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess a Bachelor’s degree in Architecture and Urbanism or have three additional years of relevant experience. A postgraduate degree in related fields is desirable. The position requires a minimum of three years of experience in urban development or social housing, with a strong emphasis on capacity building and teaching. Experience in social housing, South-South Cooperation, and working within the public sector is advantageous. Proficiency in computer skills, project management methodologies, and online event facilitation is essential. Strong communication, teamwork, and planning skills are also required.
Educational Background: A Bachelor’s degree in Architecture and Urbanism is mandatory. A postgraduate degree in related fields such as Geography, Sociology, Law, Social Work, Public Policy, or Social Sciences is preferred. Candidates with relevant experience beyond the educational requirements may also be considered.
Experience: The position requires at least three years of experience in urban development and/or social housing, specifically within Brazil. Experience in capacity building programs and teaching is essential, while familiarity with social housing and South-South Cooperation is desirable. Previous experience working with the United Nations is also a plus.
Languages: Fluency in Portuguese is required for this position, as it is the primary working language. A working knowledge of English is desirable, given that English and French are the official languages of the United Nations Secretariat, and Spanish is used in the Regional Office.
Additional Notes: This is a part-time position (48%) with a total remuneration of BRL 15,00
The payment schedule is linked to the delivery of specific products related to the training facilitation. The consultant must be available for travel within Brazil as required for project activities, with travel expenses covered by UN-Habitat according to their guidelines. The appointment is on a local basis, and only Brazilian nationals or those with a permanent visa may apply. The contract's extension is contingent upon funding availability and performance, and all applications must be submitted in English through the specified platform.
