Job Overview:
The Consultant for ATHIS Training Facilitation will play a crucial role in supporting the implementation of the project aimed at enhancing technical assistance for social housing in Brazil. This position involves developing training plans and materials tailored to different target audiences, including municipal professionals, civil society organizations, and architecture professionals. The consultant will be responsible for delivering training sessions that prioritize practical learning and field-based activities. Additionally, the consultant will contribute to the development of a Monitoring and Evaluation Strategy, ensuring that gender-sensitive approaches are integrated into the training and evaluation processes. The role requires collaboration with various stakeholders, including UN-Habitat experts and Global South partners, to promote knowledge exchange and capacity building in the field of social housing.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The consultant's responsibilities include: 1) Supporting the development of thematic areas for the ATHIS training plan based on capacity needs assessments; 2) Creating a comprehensive training plan and materials for three distinct modules targeting different professional groups; 3) Delivering engaging training sessions that emphasize hands-on learning; 4) Collaborating on the development of a Monitoring and Evaluation Strategy; 5) Conducting virtual capacity-building sessions with Global South professionals; 6) Developing a methodology handbook for Monitoring and Evaluation tools; 7) Facilitating collaborative training with CAU/SP professionals; 8) Designing assessment mechanisms to evaluate participants' learning outcomes; 9) Preparing detailed reports documenting training activities; 10) Participating in field missions as required for project implementation.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a Bachelor’s degree in Architecture and Urbanism or have three additional years of relevant experience. A postgraduate degree in related fields such as Geography, Sociology, or Public Policy is desirable. Candidates should have a minimum of three years of experience in urban development or social housing in Brazil, with a strong background in capacity building and teaching. Experience in social housing, South-South Cooperation, and public sector fieldwork is preferred. Familiarity with UN processes and project management methodologies is also advantageous.

Educational Background:
A Bachelor’s degree in Architecture and Urbanism is required. A postgraduate degree (Lato Sensu or Stricto Sensu) in related fields is desirable, which would enhance the candidate's qualifications for the role.

Experience:
The position requires a minimum of three years of relevant experience in urban development and social housing, particularly within Brazil. Experience in capacity building programs and teaching is essential, while familiarity with social housing initiatives and South-South Cooperation is preferred. Previous work experience with the United Nations is also considered an asset.

Languages:
Fluency in Portuguese is mandatory for this position, given the local context. Working knowledge of English is desirable, as English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. Proficiency in Spanish is also beneficial, particularly for communication within the Regional Office.

This consultancy is part-time (48%) with a total remuneration of BRL 15,00
  • The payment schedule is linked to the delivery and approval of specific project outputs. The consultant must be available for travel within Brazil as required for project activities, with travel expenses covered by UN-Habitat. The position is open only to Brazilian nationals or those with a permanent visa in Brazil. The contract's extension is contingent upon performance and availability of funds.
