Job Overview: The Consultant for ATHIS Training Facilitation will play a crucial role in supporting the implementation of the project aimed at enhancing the capacity of professionals involved in social housing. This position requires close collaboration with UN-Habitat’s operational and technical teams to develop training plans and materials tailored to different target audiences, including municipal professionals, civil society organizations, and architecture and urbanism professionals. The consultant will be responsible for delivering training sessions that prioritize practical, hands-on learning experiences and will also engage in the participatory development of monitoring and evaluation strategies. The role involves significant interaction with various stakeholders, including Global South partners, to ensure that the training is relevant and effective in addressing the needs of the communities served. The consultant will also be tasked with preparing reports and documentation related to the training activities, ensuring that all outputs meet the required standards and contribute to the overall goals of the project.
Duties and Responsibilities: The consultant will have a comprehensive set of responsibilities, including: 1) Supporting the development of initial premises and identifying priority thematic areas for the ATHIS training plan and materials based on capacity needs assessments. 2) Developing a structured training plan and materials for an ATHIS training course, divided into three modules targeting different professional groups. 3) Delivering training sessions that emphasize practical learning and field-based activities. 4) Providing technical support for the development of a Monitoring and Evaluation Strategy in collaboration with UN-Habitat experts and partners. 5) Conducting virtual capacity-building sessions for Global South ATHIS professionals. 6) Developing a methodology handbook for the Monitoring and Evaluation tool. 7) Conducting collaborative training with CAU/SP professionals. 8) Designing mechanisms to assess participants’ learning outcomes and compiling results for continuous improvement. 9) Preparing reports documenting training activities and participating in field missions as required. 10) Completing all required courses, including the BSAFE security" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">security course, and ensuring compliance with UN security protocols.
Required Qualifications: The position requires a Bachelor’s degree in Architecture and Urbanism or an equivalent combination of education and experience. A postgraduate degree in related fields such as Geography, Sociology, Law, or Public Policy is desirable. Candidates must have a minimum of three years of experience in urban development or social housing in Brazil, with experience in capacity building programs and teaching being essential. Familiarity with social housing and South-South Cooperation is advantageous, as is previous experience working with the United Nations. Strong computer skills, proficiency in project management methodologies, and the ability to work in a multicultural environment are also required.
Educational Background: Candidates must possess at least a Bachelor’s degree in Architecture and Urbanism. Additional qualifications such as a postgraduate degree in relevant fields are considered advantageous. The educational background should reflect a strong foundation in urban planning, social sciences, or related disciplines, equipping the candidate with the necessary knowledge to effectively contribute to the project.
Experience: A minimum of three years of relevant experience in urban development and/or social housing in Brazil is required. Candidates should have experience in capacity building programs and teaching, with a preference for those who have worked in the public sector or have experience coordinating fieldwork. Previous experience with social housing initiatives and South-South Cooperation is desirable, as is familiarity with the operations of the United Nations.
Languages: Fluency in Portuguese is mandatory for this position, given the local context of the work. Working knowledge of English is desirable, as it may facilitate communication with international partners and stakeholders. Knowledge of Spanish is also beneficial, particularly in relation to the Regional Office's operations.
Additional Notes: The consultant will be appointed on a local basis, and only nationals from Brazil or those with a permanent visa may apply. The contract is part-time (48%) for a duration of five months, with a total remuneration of BRL 15,00
Payment will be made in installments upon the successful delivery of specified products related to the training activities. The consultant must be available for travel within Brazil as required, and all travel will be coordinated and financed by UN-Habitat according to UN travel guidelines.
