Job Overview:
The Engagement Specialist position is part of UNICEF's Digital Inclusion section within the Digital Impact Division. This role is crucial for strategizing and orchestrating how Digital Inclusion engages with various ecosystems and events. The specialist will be responsible for designing and producing strategic convenings, industry sector events, donor-facing events, and high-level roundtables that align with program objectives and resource mobilization goals. The position requires a proactive approach to engagement, ensuring that UNICEF's initiatives are effectively represented in high-stakes environments. The role is based in Geneva and necessitates regular in-office presence, along with flexibility to attend events outside standard office hours.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The Engagement Specialist will be tasked with several key functions:
  • Strategic Engagement Design: Develop and implement strategies for engaging stakeholders and positioning UNICEF within various ecosystems.
  • External Conference Presence: Represent UNICEF at conferences and events, ensuring effective communication of the organization's objectives.
  • Engagement Calendar & Planning: Maintain a comprehensive calendar of engagements and events, coordinating logistics and stakeholder involvement.
  • Stakeholder Engagement & CRM: Utilize customer relationship management tools to track and manage stakeholder interactions.
  • AI-Assisted Preparation & Follow-up: Leverage AI tools for audience research, briefing preparation, and post-event synthesis.
  • Event Systems & Knowledge Management: Oversee the management of event logistics, including venue coordination, catering, AV, and travel arrangements for speakers and attendees. The role requires a strong focus on detail and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a Master's degree or equivalent in relevant fields such as Marketing, Public Relations, Communication, Business, Media Relations, Journalism, Social Science, Economics, or International Relations. A Bachelor's degree combined with two additional years of relevant work experience may be accepted in lieu of an advanced degree. Additionally, candidates should have at least five years of professional experience in event strategy and production, stakeholder engagement, or strategic communications within international organizations or similar contexts. Strong understanding of multilateral and bilateral donor landscapes is essential.

Educational Background:
The educational background required for this position includes a Master's degree or equivalent in fields related to marketing, public relations, communication, or international relations. A Bachelor's degree with additional relevant work experience may also be considered. This educational foundation is critical for understanding the complexities of stakeholder engagement and event management in an international context.

Experience:
The position requires a minimum of five years of professional experience in event strategy and production, stakeholder engagement, or strategic communications. Candidates should have a strong understanding of the multilateral and bilateral donor landscapes, including familiarity with organizations such as the EU and World Bank. Experience in managing high-stakes events and logistics is crucial, as is the ability to navigate complex diplomatic environments.

Languages:
Fluency in English is mandatory for this position. Knowledge of another official UN language (Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian, or Spanish) is considered a desirable asset. Proficiency in additional languages can enhance communication and engagement with diverse stakeholders.

This position is based in Geneva and requires a regular in-office presence multiple days per week.
