Job Overview:
The Intern position is designed to support the Executive Associate in the Office of the Resident Representative, including the Deputy Resident Representatives’ Offices. The role involves assisting with executive coordination and day-to-day office management, which includes following up on action points from senior management meetings, updating information on the status of UNDP portfolios and their respective projects, managing incoming correspondence, and maintaining proper electronic and physical filing systems. The Intern will also assist with calendar management, conference room bookings, and meeting logistics, while supporting administrative aspects related to official travel. This position offers practical exposure to executive-level processes, UNDP corporate systems, and strategic management in a multicultural development environment, allowing the Intern to develop professional skills in organization, communication, discretion, and results tracking.

Duties and Responsibilities:
Under the direct supervision of the Executive Associate, the intern will be responsible for tracking and monitoring action points arising from meetings of the Resident Representative (RR) and Deputy Resident Representatives (DRRs). This includes maintaining an up-to-date action tracking matrix and following up with responsible offices to ensure timely implementation. The intern will also maintain portfolio snapshots, which include key activities, budgets, and workplan implementation status, and provide concise and timely portfolio updates upon request by the RR Office. Additionally, the intern will track incoming and outgoing correspondence, ensuring compliance with UNDP filing and records management standards. The intern will support the scheduling of monthly Town Hall meetings, assist in the preparation of draft documents for internal review, and handle all information with discretion in accordance with UNDP confidentiality and ethics standards. Administrative support for official travel arrangements, including travel bookings and coordination with relevant units, will also be part of the intern's responsibilities, along with supporting situational awareness for the RR Office by scanning relevant national and global news.

Required Qualifications:
To be considered for the position, candidates must demonstrate the ability to work with people from diverse cultural backgrounds and show a strong interest in international development that aligns with UNDP’s mission. Candidates should possess adaptability, a willingness to learn, and the ability to take on challenges. Attention to detail, creativity, and the capacity to work in a fast-paced environment are essential. Respect for UN values and the UNDP Statement of Purpose is crucial, along with being self-motivated and able to work both independently and as part of a team. Proficiency in English is mandatory, and a working knowledge of other UN languages is desirable.

Educational Background:
Candidates must be enrolled in a postgraduate degree program (such as a master’s program or higher), be in the final academic year of a first university degree program (such as a bachelor’s degree or equivalent), or have recently graduated with a university degree. If selected, candidates must start the internship within one year of graduation. Enrollment in a postgraduate professional traineeship program that includes the internship as part of the program is also acceptable. Required disciplines include Development Studies, International Relations, Public Administration, Business Administration/Management, Political Science, Social Science, or related fields.

Experience:
The position requires candidates to have a foundational understanding of executive coordination and office management, ideally gained through academic coursework or previous internships. While specific prior experience may not be mandatory, candidates should demonstrate a capacity for learning and adapting to the demands of a high-level leadership environment.

Languages:
Proficiency in English is mandatory for this position. A working knowledge of other UN languages is considered desirable and may enhance a candidate's application.
