Job Overview:
The Education Officer position at UNICEF involves providing professional technical, operational, and administrative assistance in foundational learning, particularly focusing on literacy and numeracy, as well as gender and disability-inclusive education. The role is crucial in reaching 'last mile' learners in early education and involves key tasks related to education program planning, execution, management, and implementation. The officer will contribute to research activities aimed at strengthening the education system and improving learning quality. The contract is under a Temporary Appointment for 364 days, emphasizing the importance of the role in achieving educational outcomes for children.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Support program development and planning by contributing to situation analysis, researching development trends, and establishing sectoral program goals and strategies.
  • Provide technical and administrative support throughout programming processes, ensuring compliance with organizational processes.
  • Manage and monitor program implementation, collaborating with colleagues and partners to address implementation issues and report on resource use.
  • Conduct field visits to assess progress and provide operational support to government counterparts and partners.
  • Build effective partnerships with stakeholders to facilitate program implementation and capacity building.
  • Draft communication materials for advocacy and participate in inter-agency meetings to align strategies with UNDAF planning.
  • Contribute to knowledge management and capacity building initiatives, applying innovative approaches to enhance program results.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a university degree in education, development studies, or a relevant technical field. A minimum of two years of professional experience in program planning, management, or research in education is required. Candidates should demonstrate a commitment to UNICEF's core values and competencies, including partnership building, ethical awareness, results-driven focus, and strategic thinking.

Educational Background:

Experience:
The position requires at least two years of professional experience in program planning, management, or research within the education sector. Relevant experience at the country level, especially in development or fragile settings, is highly desirable. Experience in foundational skills teaching and learning, particularly in rural or remote areas, is also beneficial, as is familiarity with UN system agencies or organizations.

Languages:
Fluency in English and Bahasa Indonesia is mandatory for this role. Proficiency in additional languages may be considered an asset, enhancing communication with diverse stakeholders and partners.
