Job Overview:
The purpose of this consultancy is to support the Communications area in implementing an annual editorial plan and schedule. The consultant will assist in ensuring the quality of publications and managing editorial services such as graphic design, illustration, and printing based on the requirements of various office areas, while ensuring compliance with deadlines. The role is crucial in promoting the right to education for every child and making a significant difference in their lives. The consultant will be expected to demonstrate a commitment to the values of UNICEF, which include care, respect, integrity, trust, accountability, and sustainability.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Assist in the development and implementation of the annual editorial plan and schedule for communications.
  • Ensure the quality of all publications produced by the office, including reviewing and editing content.
  • Manage relationships with service providers for graphic design, layout, and illustration, ensuring that all work meets UNICEF's standards.
  • Coordinate the printing services, ensuring timely delivery and adherence to quality standards.
  • Collaborate with various departments to gather content and understand their communication needs.
  • Maintain a high level of technical knowledge about the editorial process and stay updated on best practices in communications.
  • Provide training and support to staff on communication strategies and tools.
  • Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of communication efforts and suggest improvements.

Required Qualifications:
Minimum requirements include a university degree in Literature, Journalism, Communication, or related fields. The candidate must have at least 5 years of professional experience related to communication and editorial production, with a minimum of 3 years in creating publications, writing texts, and editorial correction. Additionally, at least 2 years of experience in hiring and supervising graphic design and layout service providers, as well as coordinating printing services, is required. Experience working with organizations related to human rights or child welfare, the United Nations system, state organizations, and civil society is valued but not mandatory.

Educational Background:
A university degree in relevant fields such as Literature, Journalism, Communication, or similar disciplines is required for this position. This educational background is essential to ensure the candidate possesses the necessary skills and knowledge to perform effectively in the role.

Experience:
The position requires a minimum of 5 years of professional experience in communication and editorial production. Candidates should have substantial experience in creating publications, writing, and editorial correction, with specific experience in managing graphic design and printing services. Experience in organizations related to human rights or child welfare is considered an asset but is not a strict requirement.

Languages:
Proficiency in Spanish is mandatory, with excellent writing skills in the language being essential. Knowledge of additional languages may be advantageous but is not specified as a requirement.

The consultancy does not imply employment status within UNICEF, and consultants will not receive benefits typically provided to staff members, such as medical insurance or leave. The terms of service will be governed by the consultant's contract and the General Conditions of Contracts for Individual Consultants.
