Job Overview: The Project Manager will oversee the day-to-day operations and implementation of project activities within the Global Fund Partnership Team. This role involves ensuring the timely delivery of project outputs, managing financial resources, and maintaining effective communication with stakeholders. The Project Manager will support the development of project documents, monitor project activities, and produce reports as required. Additionally, the position requires fostering partnerships with donors and health organizations, providing technical advice to UNDP Country Offices, and ensuring knowledge sharing across projects. Duties and Responsibilities: The Project Manager will be responsible for the following duties:
Oversee the implementation of project activities, ensuring alignment with the Initiation Plan and Project Document.
Develop and revise project documents as necessary, in accordance with UNDP Programme and Project Management guidelines.
Monitor project activities closely, producing regular reports on progress and challenges.
Manage project financial resources, including budgeting, tracking expenditures, and coordinating with finance specialists.
Identify and mitigate project risks, maintaining an updated project dashboard.
Collaborate with other UNDP programs to ensure synergies and complementary efforts.
Establish and maintain strong partnerships with donors and health organizations, contributing to resource mobilization efforts.
Provide technical advice and quality assurance to Country Offices in designing scalable projects.
Facilitate knowledge sharing and capacity development among national entities. 1
Document and disseminate best practices and lessons learned from project implementation. 1
Perform other duties as required to support the efficient functioning of the office and organization.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess an advanced university degree (Master’s degree or equivalent) in International Development, Social Science, Business Management, Communications, or a related field. Alternatively, a first-level university degree (bachelor’s degree) combined with two additional years of qualifying experience will be considered. The role requires a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience with a Master’s degree or 7 years with a Bachelor’s degree, demonstrating increasing levels of responsibility in managerial positions. Experience in developing project proposals, providing technical support to countries, and familiarity with UNDP and the UN system is highly desirable. Knowledge of health infrastructure projects and Global Fund policies is also preferred.
Educational Background: An advanced university degree (Master’s degree or equivalent) in fields such as International Development, Social Science, Business Management, or Communications is required. A first-level university degree (bachelor’s degree) may be accepted if accompanied by additional qualifying experience. This educational background is essential for understanding the complexities of international development and project management.
Experience: The position requires a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience for candidates with a Master’s degree, or 7 years for those with a Bachelor’s degree. Candidates should have a proven track record in managerial roles, experience in developing project proposals, and providing technical support to governments and development partners. Familiarity with UNDP operations and health infrastructure projects is highly desirable, as is experience working in various sectors and with UN agencies.
Languages: Fluency in English is mandatory for this position. Additionally, a working knowledge of French, Portuguese, or Spanish is desirable, as it enhances communication with diverse stakeholders and partners in the global health landscape.
Additional Notes: This position is based in Copenhagen, Denmark, and reports to the Programme Specialist managing the SHS project. The role requires collaboration with various teams within UNDP and other UN agencies to achieve global health objectives.
