Job Overview:
The GVZ Specialist position is pivotal for the operationalization and management of the Green Venture Zone (GVZ) in Pokhara, which is part of the 'Green Job Creation Through Recycling and Upcycling (GCRU) Project'. The GVZ aims to promote a circular economy model, transitioning from a linear 'throw-away' approach to sustainable waste management practices. The Specialist will be responsible for translating strategic plans into actionable strategies, establishing operational systems, driving partnerships, and leading execution to ensure the GVZ evolves into a self-sustaining model of circular economic innovation. This role requires a blend of leadership, strategic thinking, and operational management to foster an environment conducive to green job creation and sustainable practices.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The duties and responsibilities of the GVZ Specialist include providing strategic leadership for the operationalization of the GVZ, overseeing the activation of functional spaces, and ensuring they are utilized effectively for exhibitions, enterprise development, and educational programs. The Specialist will develop and implement operational guidelines, promote revenue-generating activities, and lead community engagement initiatives. They will also strengthen the GVZ business incubation program, facilitate access to training and mentorship for recycling and upcycling enterprises, and organize public campaigns to enhance visibility and partnerships. Additionally, the Specialist will establish linkages between RU enterprises and GVZ infrastructure, monitor facility utilization, and promote gender equality and social inclusion in all operations.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess an advanced university degree (master's degree or equivalent) in Development Studies, Business Administration, or a relevant field. Alternatively, a first-level university degree (bachelor’s degree) combined with two additional years of qualifying experience will be considered. A minimum of 5 years of experience (7 years with a bachelor’s degree) in designing and implementing education, training, and community engagement programs in the development sector is required. Experience in global recycling and upcycling initiatives, business plan development for SMEs, and enterprise mentoring is desired. Familiarity with managing networks of small businesses and partnerships with various stakeholders is also essential.

Educational Background:
The educational background required for this position includes an advanced university degree (master's degree or equivalent) in relevant fields such as Development Studies or Business Administration. Candidates with a bachelor's degree in these areas, along with additional qualifying experience, will also be considered. This educational foundation is crucial for understanding the complexities of development programs and the operational needs of the GVZ.

Experience:
The position requires a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience for candidates with a master's degree, or 7 years for those with a bachelor's degree. This experience should encompass designing and implementing educational and community engagement programs, particularly in the development sector. Candidates should have global experience with recycling and upcycling centers, as well as proven experience in business plan development and incubation support for green enterprises. Experience in managing community engagement projects related to sustainability and circular economy practices is also highly valued.

Languages:
Fluency in English is mandatory for this position. Additionally, working knowledge of Nepali or Korean is considered an advantage, as it may facilitate better communication and engagement with local communities and stakeholders.

Additional Notes:
The position is part of a long-term project running from 2023 to 2029, focusing on sustainable solid waste management and green job creation in Pokhara. The GVZ is expected to be a multifunctional hub that will include various facilities such as exhibition halls, marketplaces, and educational spaces.
