This specific internship focuses on supporting UNICEF Mongolia's technical and operational preparations for the 17th session of the Conference of the Parties (COP17) to the United Nations Convention to Combat Desertification (UNCCD). Interns will work under the supervision of experienced UNICEF personnel, particularly the WASH Officer, and will engage with various stakeholders, including government counterparts and UN agencies. The role is designed to help interns acquire organizational knowledge and practical skills that complement their academic learning, particularly in areas related to climate action, WASH systems, and youth engagement in environmental sustainability.

Duties and Responsibilities:
Interns will assist with a variety of tasks, including: coordinating and preparing logistics for COP17-related activities such as meetings, consultations, and events; providing documentation and knowledge management support by preparing meeting notes, maintaining action trackers, and drafting briefing materials; supporting inter-agency and government coordination by following up on agreed actions with relevant ministries and partners; conducting background research on COP17 thematic areas relevant to UNICEF's mandate; assisting in the preparation and implementation of government-requested COP17 initiatives; preparing communication materials and coordinating participant logistics for events; participating in coordination meetings and field visits related to climate resilience initiatives; and performing other related tasks as assigned by the supervisor.

Required Qualifications:
To qualify for this internship, candidates must be enrolled in an undergraduate program and be at least in their junior or senior year in relevant disciplines such as Environmental Science, Climate Change, Water Engineering, Natural Resource Management, Public Policy, International Relations, Development Studies, or Project Management. Candidates must be at least 18 years old, and while relevant experience is desirable, it is not mandatory. Fluency in English is required, and candidates should demonstrate excellent academic performance as evidenced by recent university records. Additionally, candidates should possess skills in Geo-referencing, Microsoft Planner, MS Excel, and other relevant technologies. It is also essential that candidates do not have immediate relatives working in UNICEF or in a position of authority over them.

Educational Background:
Candidates must be enrolled in a relevant undergraduate program, ideally in their junior or senior year. The fields of study should align with the responsibilities of the internship, focusing on environmental science, climate change, or related disciplines that equip them with the necessary knowledge and skills to contribute effectively to UNICEF's mission and the specific goals of COP17.
